USA Violence and Civil Unrest in America [Daily protests ongoing against Racism and Police Brutality]

From what I understand the protests/riots are about perceived institutionalised racism within the US legal system, particularly the police forces, which allegedly is the reason for the disproportionate number of deaths in custody of African Americans. From the statistics I've seen online, and...

Does the FPM as a Party Want Peace with Israehell

I sometimes wonder what the economic benefits for Lebanon are if we had a peace treaty and largely normal relations. I speculate there would be significantly more tourists, potential for new trade opportunities, more foreign investment due to peace and maybe education opportunities. However I'm...

Final Blow to Christians in Lebanon?

Some in the Western media are claiming this recent economic crises in Lebanon could be the final blow to one of the last significant Christian communities in the Middle East. What are the thoughts from you who are on the ground in Lebanon? Is the economic meltdown affecting Lebanon's communities...

    Mother Teresa was a Fraud

What a joke is this character assassination by Vice because of her views on abortion and divorce! So unless you subscribe to the lefty post-modern western liberal view of humanity, you are a bad person... Gotcha

    October 17 Revolution

I'm happy with federalism. But initially it may need to be sold as "decentralization" to get more people on board who for some reason don't like the word "federalism". Once we have decentralization I think it will naturally evolve into de facto federalism for all practical purposes.

What should now be very clear to all Lebanese is the country is ungovernable under the current system of government. This has been the consistent pattern since 2005. We need a new constitution and a stable new form of government, whilst at the same time with firm protections that guarantee the...

Hariri's advisor admits having previewed the recent eruption with 2 camps, and having advocated the LAF to plan for a violent conflict against HA

At least we agree Lebanon and the region is not normal. I hope you also agree for a future normal Lebanon that would mean a disarmed HA. But truth is HA will always consider it's arms a red line regardless of any potential/hypothetical changes in the region and within Lebanon for the better. I...

Hariri's advisor admits having previewed the recent eruption with 2 camps, and having advocated the LAF to plan for a violent conflict against HA

What's treasonous is a foreign backed sectarian militia that's increasingly used to service the regional geopolitical interests of it's sponsor. In any normal country such entity would never be allowed to exist.

Is it too late to ask France to have its mandate back? And who's dumb idea was for Lebanon to become independent? If we stayed with France we could have turned out like New Caledonia today, one of the few decent Islands in the Pacific.

    October 17 Revolution

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this pattern, but since independence Lebanon has almost perfectly moved in 15 year phases: 1945 - 1960: Post independence era 1960 - 1975: Lebanon's golden age 1975 - 1990: Civil war era 1990 - 2005: Syrian occupation period 2005 - 2020: Post-Syrian...

    October 17 Revolution

Ok I have a crazy idea that might get Lebanon out of this economic mess... Make peace with Israel and have full economic relations... Just think about it: - We could have joint tourism campaigns - Western tourists will flock back - We'd reopen for Western and Arab investment - New trade...

Is a non-sectarian system truly the way to Lebanon's salvation?

Though the confessional system certainly does contribute to sectarianism, it is not the source of sectarianism. The people are sectarian by nature, not just in Lebanon, but the whole region. The only difference a system of government will do, whether it be confessionalism, secular democracy...

    October 17 Revolution

Though I support their motivations, I can't help but make some comparison with the Iranian revolution... Young, hip and university educated, but naive in believing the rest of the country is like them... In Lebanon doesn't matter what system of democracy we have, the majority of the people will...

    October 17 Revolution

Even in Western countries the authorities don't tolerate the closure of roads by protesters. We recently had "Extinction Rebellion" protesters who blocked roads in Australia, they were swiftly removed with force by the police...
