Haha, yeah - that one was a pretty fun scene as well!
That final speech, on the other hand, was a bit too heavy-handed. Excellent delivery by Mr. Chaplin (for a man who built his legacy on silent film, he was not bad at all speaking!), but the abrupt jump out of character was a bit too jarring.
Incidentally, I just finished watching Chaplin's The Great Dictator (1940). I wouldn't say it's a favorite, but I did enjoy it, overall.
One scene in particular stood out to me as especially good. At one point, Chaplin's character (a caricature of Adolf Hitler called "Adenoid Hynkel") is left...
Alain Bifani did not resign because of Kanaan or the parliamentary committee, but because of Salemeh and Wazi's puppetmaster Berri. As for Chaoul, I'm not sure he ever articulated why he resigned beyond broad populist statements. I do not pretend to know better than an expert in his field, but...
Kanaan didn't do anything to scupper the forensic audit. His little spat with Najem was stupid and (in my opinion) misdirected, but it was nothing more than that. In fact, Kanaan has been one of the leading legislators in drafting laws that push in the same direction as the audit.
What's funny is that, were Kanaan reprimanded or kicked from the party, the same people complaining about him now would be calling him a hero and Bassil a dictator for "eliminating everyone who is a rival to him".
Kanaan's parliamentary committee tried to find a middle ground between the government's numbers and the bank's numbers. The banks didn't have a plan, if I'm not mistaken. He faulted the government for not sitting with the banks and discussing numbers before negotiating with the IMF. **** the...
Seriously, what's Kanaan's alleged wrongdoing, here? I am very critical of the way he fired shots on Marie-Claude Nejm, and I have my reservations regarding how serious he is about doing his assigned parliamentary role "objectively", but it's not like Kanaan has done some grand betrayal. What am...
I'm really glad you came back to post on this forum. It makes it much easier to show people how ridiculously superficial and borderline delusional the counter-rhetoric to all of what Tayyar does is.
Keep up the good work.
This is not a fact. No offense, but the fact that you think this is a fact makes me very apprehensive about participating in a political dicussion with you about the topic.
Also, what proof do you have against Kanaan, again?
Based on what? If we believe everything the mafia state media spews, then every single person in the FPM is a criminal, their followers are mentally deranged, and everyone else in politics is an angel.
Either the accuser present convincing proof or they shut the **** up. That's how I'm seeing...
