Here is a good article in today's An-Nahar. I thought it addresses some of the questions raised in this thread.

IMO Aoun's major mistake was when he convinced himself he can make a LASTING difference in the political scene in Lebanon. Like many people, he got swept up in popular excitement and believed he can,if not change, alter the course of history.

His other mistake was to leave a great country like France to come and live in a jinxed country and for what at the end?

History as yet will remember Aoun for the two wars he waged and everything else is

Lot of things changed. Christians are back to the state. New electoral law that is fair to Christians. Decent infrastructure in Mount Lebanon.

Few things were FPM made difference.

    What are the others contribution?

You might like to add christians are back lining up in front of foreign embassies , their future in spite of what you mentioned looks as bleak as it ever did. Very few can now afford private schools, very few do now have a decent income, , secure future, hope, their life savings gone and the list goes on and on. Still though we are better than the miserable people of Akkar
AS for the others contributions you may be right to think nothing.

Hindsight, he probably didn't do any mistake, he got to the presidency, he put Bassil minister several times.
I think we did the mistake of supporting him.
NO HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, HE SERVED HIMSELF VERY WELL

When FPM proposed to remove Salameh, your Christian Neutral Patriarch was the first to put a red line on him, refused to lower tuitions to his people; he is busy receiving visitors alike Sanyoura w Geagea w ashtaf sifi

You said private schools and embassies?

The Patriarich still maintains a red line on Baabda as well
rest assured the moment he calls for Aoun's resignation, the president will be removed in no second.
Bkerki's agenda is mugh bigger than tezfit tor2at in Mount Lebanon and hiring FPMers 3al port

The end result he didn't remove him. Who opposed it and who approved it and whether his poliies were right or wrong is another issue.

we don’t want the Christians to just be back to the state and continue with the same mentality as it was before. Unfortunately this is what happened.

    Proud Republican,

I'd say, give him at least the chance to try to implement the FPM's program. And if he fails, then don't vote for him in 2013. Let's judge our politicians upon their acts and not upon their intentions.
he got his chance appointed bassil...and many other failers.

This will be the norm in Lebanon, as long as the Lebanese keep supporting and electing the likes of Berri, Jumblatt, FM. We’ve been experiencing it since the first day FPM got a ministry in 2008...

yes christians are now equally to blame for the utter cluster-f-ck that is lebanon in 2020

you managed in 15 to stand toe to toe with the likes of jumblat and hariri and bff berri who had (twice the time) 30 years to f-ck up this country

i would honestly say that is impressive

    What mentality?
genetically you are near identical in your thinking process to Amal supporters

u think you are better than the rest while your actions speak aloud that you are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to achievements

hiring left and right blindly through nepotism though you are very good at it

milking the tits of lebanon next to jumblat and berri

i love it how u think u represent me as christian when u plaster the walls of this country with incompetent blind orange followers in my name

very few people can retain this state of mental delusion after having had a hand in blowing up half of beirut with their pro-hisbulah pro-taef pro-fassad mentality, the port was littered with your incompetent 'christian ppl that represent me'
