14 years after end of Syrian occupation: Where are our prisoners?

Today is a day worth celebrating -- the real liberation day.

14 years ago today, the last Syrian "soldier" left Lebanese soil, to the tune of Lebanon's Shiites (and few lost souls from other sects) thanking Syria for its brutal occupation, subjugation, and plunder of Lebanon.

Our prisoners and at the top of the list Boutros Khawand, remain in Syrian prisons. The bloodthirsty dictator in Syria repeatedly denied their presence (and so did then-MP Michel Aoun upon his visit to Syria on Assad's private jet).

What should the Lebanese Republic do to bring them home and give closure to their families?

What is Lebanon's foreign minister doing in this regard? It is his job.

What are Lebanon's President, PM, and Speaker doing?

Reminder of what the Syrians did in Lebanon and why we should be celebrating this day:

A law was voted less than a year ago, the Ghazi Aad Law. It was proposed by FPM and opposed by LF and PSP...

Just a reminder.

Meaningless law, the prisoners are not in Lebanon they are in Syria. You can create 10,000 laws and you get nowhere.

All this law has done (IIRC) was create a commission with few individuals getting paid out of public coffers. Like Lebanon needs more useless "public servants" to add to its unsustainable debt.

The prisoners aren't back - that's your proof.
To get them back requires diplomatic work, or economic/political pressure on Syria. What's being done in that regard?

They are most likely dead.
Nevertheless their families have a right to closure, which starts by receiving their remains so they can be properly buried.

If the Baathists have no problem returning remains of Israeli soldiers, they surely shouldn't have a problem returning them to "sisterly" nation of Lebanon. Or so we are told.

Putin is the dog of the jews, he is obliged to serve them. even if there's a jewish corpse on the moon, he will go and get it for them.
who the **** are you compared to the state of israel ? .. who ?
Earth belong to God. its creator. no matter where your corpse is buried, it won't make any difference, your soul has returned to its creator.
it won't make any difference for the bones if they are in Syria or in the USA or in Lebanon or Mars. all the same.

Personally i would like to think they are dead even though i have family members .. :(
I would like to think they did not suffer for 37 yrs and 30 yrs and still trying to survive in horrible living conditions.

Long live the lebanese army and all those who lost their lives or worse!

I hope they died soon after, personally, for same reason as you.
But unfortunately their families are still suffering, and it is duty of Lebanon to give them closure.

I know same here.
But i know for a fact that one of the 2 survived at least 9 years. LAF personal distress call was sent years later.

Don't feel sorry for the Phalangists/LFers and Islamists amongst them, though.
They were thugs who massacred people on religious basis and who were taken care of by Assad.

Whether we like Syrians or not, we have to admit that sectarian bloodshed stopped thanks to Syria.
The 90's was a period of calm and prosperity despite Syrian presence.

The Lebanese prisoners are probably dead by now. Does it matter where they're buried?

This a concrete example of "crocodile tears" coming from a guy who identifies himself as israeli, and had gone to the extreme in justifying israeli crimes in lebanon, and never shied away from threatening lebanon and Lebanese.

This is on the form.

As for the content, yes there is an issue, there are missing soldiers who fought to the bitter end for the General Aoun and to keep part of Lebanon free.
The least that Aoun and his party can do in recognition for the ultimate sacrifice of these soldiers is to find their remains and bring them to their families to have decent burial and a place a mother, a father, a sister, abrother, a wife, a son, a daughter can visit and remember them.

SHAME on those who celebrate Oct 13 without remembering those soldiers as Bassil did...
SHAME on people who still support a leader who used the missing soldiers for his political gain, when they become a burden he forgot about them

Aoun is President and FPM is not his party, not anymore.

It is Bassil's and I do not care what FPM do in this regard. My thread is not about a single party.
I do not expect any one party to tackle this issue, but I expect a unified Christian front tackling it in government and in Parliament, and especially on diplomatic level. Bassil should be asking his Syrian friends (directly or via his Iranian allies, Hizbullah) about the fate of the prisoners. He should have brought it up with the Russians, too.

Why hasn't anyone posted the pic of Geagea visiting Syria yet?
did ba3ba3 otra7 this in his trip to qordaha?

Funny how you two are more concerned with Geagea's trip in 1994, but say absolutely nothing about Aoun's trip much later than that. After you are done explaining that Aoun visited after Syria was no longer occupying Lebanon, do explain why he didn't even bother to bring their subject up (he denied their presence...).

What do you think about Lebanese prisoners in Syrian jails?
