Walid Joumblatt is clearly lying. He wants a 51% in everything.

But we're going to break Fatoush's hands, anyway. And don't want him anywhere near our Mountain. Even if he was Joumblat's business partner.

The videos attest though to the fact that Nasrallah is a novice politician and Joumblatt is a black-belt. The way Joumblatt made fun of him and can practice political deceit is far impressive and cunning.

If Fatoush wants to make cement for Syria, he can build his factory in Syria.

We don't want his pollution in Lebanon.

I hope Bassil / FPM are not supporting this.

"Disappointed by the political turn the cement factory project has taken, some Ain Dara residents say they want all politicians out of the picture. Hassan Zeitouni, a history teacher and local environmental activist, does not believe that either Mr Joumblatt or Mr Fattouche have the village’s best interest at heart.

“Joumblatt suggested sending garbage to Ain Dara during the 2015 garbage crisis, which would have been disastrous because it would have leaked into our underground water reserves," he said.

Mr Zeitouni campaigns for the quarries to be closed, and for the village to invest in eco-tourism to boost its income."

"During a brief meeting earlier in that day in Zahle, after a press conference given by his brother, politician Nicolas Fattouche, Pierre Fattouche advised The National strongly against visiting Ain Dara, saying that it was unsafe because Mr Joumblatt’s men had blocked the road.

He also claimed that there were ISIS militants in the area, even though the last ISIS pockets in Lebanon were eliminated two years previously and were nearly 100 kilometres north-east of Ain Dara, near the Syrian border."

While they quarrel hypocritically, Lebanon is destroyed.

“Does Sibline not pollute? We do not even have a factory yet. This country is astonishing," he said, in reference to Mr Joumblatt's cement factory in the Chouf. The former minister said that he believed that Mr Joumblatt opposed his brother's plans because he was afraid of competition."

Can we know how much tax Fatoush has paid from his Ain Dara quarry profits over the past 25 years?

From investors and capitalists point of view, it looks like Joumblat is depriving the Mountain from development because his family doesn't get it's feudal share from the investment.

    Family socialism that is

"In 1993, the government decided to ban the import of cement. This had two important effects. On the one hand, it led to a market monopoly by three cement companies in Lebanon (Cimenterie Nationale–al-Sabeh Cement; Lebanese Cement Company–Holcim Liban; and Ciment de Sibline sal)."

Aren't these mostly Shia areas? If so, why is Hassan Nastallah insisting that others accept what they don't accept in their regions?

    -------------------------------------------------------

"The first map that identified areas designated for the establishment of quarries was issued by decree 8803\2002. According to a source from the Ministry of Environment (MOE), the Council of Ministers set this National Master Plan for Quarries based on a study carried out by the consulting firm Dar al-Handasah in the 1990s at the request of the Directorate General of Urban Planning (DGUP), which identified twenty areas suitable for quarrying.

    ...

Between 2002 and 2009, only four applications for quarry permits were submitted within the designated areas. Three of them received approval, while the fourth was rejected after the municipality of Aita al-Foukhar (Rashaya District) declined it.

    ...

Nothing changed after adding another eleven areas in 2009, when only a small number of new permit applications were submitted. At times, municipalities themselves were behind the rejection of the application. For example, the municipality of Yanta (Rashaya District) does not grant any quarry permits even though there is an area designated by the decree within its jurisdiction. The same goes for the municipalities of Majdal Zoun (Tyre District) as well as Tayri and Ain Ebel (Bint Jbeil District). The municipality of Qousaya-Deir al-Ghazal (Zahle District) requested the removal of the entire area designated by the decree..."

I don't support destroying our mountains for money. But you're right. Joumblatt only cares about his feudal share. And doesn't give a shit about our mountains or environment. He provides for the families of the PSP martyrs through Harriri money and stacks the rest in his bank account. The Lebanese Druze are only well-off economically because of a religious Druze safety net and immigration. That's why most young men and women in my town (and I'm one of them) are immigrants.

The Joumblatts also believe (fundamentally) that all the Druze owe them. Because his grandfather Saed Joumblatt gave off all his wealth (gold coins) to pay the dowry for the 1860 massacres. And got killed by the Ottomans when carrying the money to them. And because Kamal Joumblatt gaves off most of their lands to Druze families (most of which Walid J has retrieved back).

For the ones who forgot , fattouch won a law suit against the state for stopping his kessara. The corrupt judge awarded him with around 250 million $ as conpensation with a yearly interest which accumulates to 440 millions $ till now. Because he was supporter by the syrian regime and had strong contact in lebanon, he was able to get this verdict and no one dared stand against him at the time.
