No need to do anything with it. A day will come and new sincere dreamers will start a TV station that will better represent our dreams.

OTV needs to:
1. Produce more creative programs, not typical hishik bishik Lebanese tv ****.
2. Spend some money for rights of popular TV shows.
3. Invite more people from the opposition in their political talk shows.
4. Completely rebrand their generic and corporate graphics.
5. News intro music to be changed. My ears bleed from it.

for the lack of a better description, the grid of OTV seems to be aimed mostly towards a very shallow section of viewers. i seriously take insult in that. it is understandable that they have financing issue, but it is not permissible for the quality of the shows to degrade as such.

i am not much of a TV watcher, but the mtv new grid was being advertised, and it caught my attention, they have some very nice intellectual shows, including some that deal with global politics and with intellectual issues and so on.

while on our station, the one that we promised was going to raise awareness and be a model station, we seem to be all about hishik bishik, seif beauty clinic's liposuction, zein el atet, wel extra borojo of amana care, and god knows what else.

i dont think the station needs to open for 24 hours if that would mean squandering the budget on idiotic shows. let them open 12 hours a day, with all that mess in 6 hours, and let the next 6 hours be invested in productive shows that are strategically planed to promote FPM's principles (or what's left of them) instead of squandering them.

more importantly, when i supported OTV and purchased my stocks, i was promised something completely different from what was delivered. i wish there is a way to get my money back, not kidding, it would have been much better if i gave that to a charity. i supported what was supposed to be a revolutionary station, not a new Tele Liban.

Starting with negativity, OTV is horribly managed, the low budget is not enough of an excuse to their bad selection of shows, there's no creativity whatsoever and when they try to be creative they come up with something too cheesy to watch. Honestly i'd rather watch Tele Liban than OTV if i had to choose between the two. When OTV first started we all knew to a certain extent it'll be directed to a certain crowd but they took things to the extreme and now they can't break out from the limitation they got themselves into.

They need to resign their current management that obviously thinks the more *** kissing they do the better job they are doing, but while they were doing that they made the Tv Station become more and more of a station directed only to FPM'ers, get a new team, improvise, be initiative, become a TV station for all the Lebanese, and for God sake make the news reporters stop ******* around with their facial expression when they report piece of news from the opposite side, leave your political orientation at home.

With their current team i can't find reliable strengths, simply because there's no vision, if there was any points of strength we wouldn't be here today.. OTV was supposed to be a breath of fresh air but ended up comforting Tele Liban in their last spot.

i have no problem with Zein el atat, borojo and all those charlatans.. they are paying for their time...

Although they may cause a hemorrhage of viewers, their time needs to be restricted, perhaps increase the price of airtime..

the problems are too many to go over in details:
- the news anchors should be allowed to read their text before going live.. Shirley Murr seems be spelling her words.. obviously I cannot comment on the armenian one.

- There needs to be more programs directed towards younger, sophisticated generation.... I like MTV programs, (those with kids talking about computers, internet, music, etc.....)
it is not bad if people speak a lot in french or english in these programs.. the lebanese youth are sophisticated enough to understand several languages.. .

- There needs to be more entertainment programs on friday and saturday night.. I don't think Zajal can compete with heik men ghanneh....
- The whole news concept needs to be revised... The stories are not well investigated.. there is always a lot of basic information that's missing.. many times, the anchor claims there is a special section about some important event and we end up seeing some footage (with songs many time) with no real meaning...

however, they have many successful programs... The one by Wissam (the funny little dude), khidni ma3ak, the one where he spends a day with a celebrity is a very good one... Wissam is very aggressive, very involved...

i also want to add that FPM is the most disorganized and disfunctional party in Lebanon. all its institutions are semi official. they are independent, but not quite so. independent enough to refuse any advise and reject any suggestion to adopt a strategy, even when this comes from party officials. i frankly have no clue why this model has been used for the party.

there is however a huge amount of disrespect towards supporters in this weird party, they dont give a [email protected] if we are satisfied or not, they simply dont care it seems. they are closed for advice, and they refuse all directions, they have lost touch with reality. even the main quadres of the party do not receive any political formation. shi te3tir.

i am becoming more and more convinced that FPM is the only party that does not value and respect its supporters. so much arrogance in this party and so little achievements. how revolting and how repulsing.

I dont really watch TV, and if I do it is mainly movie channels...
I bought shares of Otv for 1 reason: to support FPM

I am still OK, FPM has issues, several, but is still the best chance for Lebanon 7atta 2ich3arin 2akhar. I am only somewhat satisfied because the fact that it is linked to FPM is the only thing that takes me to the station... grid wou batata are not interesting at all, I agree with DA that it lacks intellectual/heavyweight political shows (local and international politics)

The answer is simple, get Aoun's relatives OUT of the management....especially the ones who were parachuted in a position they know nothing about.

Do whatever you have to do to keep them.
All of OTV's stars left for other TV stations, and some of its original programs left with them.

Oh and stop turning into another Future TV, but become more like LBC or even MTV.
The latter being extremely biased; but still people watch it because it has good programs and the hottest babes on TV !!!

As long as Michel Aoun will surround himself with cheerleaders, he will still think that the sky is blue and that he has millions of supporters all over the world.

The other problem is that the FPM created this sort of "philosophy" which can be easily summarized by: "Iza mech 3ajbak, de22 rassak bel 7ayt".
And you know what?
Yalli mech 3ajeboun faddalo yi fello men enno yi de22o rassoun bel 7ayt.
And then to justify this "philosophy" the FPM accused those leaving of being unworthy and traitors.....of course never looking into a glass to realize that something is wrong

All Lebanese TV stations are **** with crapy shows and retarded programs!
And OTV is just another one

I'm not sure if the problem is form these stations' management (a "conspiracy' to make people stupid) or is it that the people's IQ is decreasing so fast that these are the only shows their brains can process

I think we have focused a lot on the problems without offering any solutions, I am not an expert in the field, but apparently neither are those in charge of the overall media sector inside FPM. so my first suggestion would be to hire two independent teams of expert consultants and have them analyze the situation, define the problems and suggest the appropriate solutions, and at the end have an executive FPM committee compare the both reports.

with that in mind, i will allow myself to publish a couple of ideas from a project concerning OTV that Nayla and myself presented inside FPM:

set a program grid with solid objectives:
  • Civil and civic education
  • Political education
  • Intelligent Entertainment
  • Positive Propaganda and Counter-propaganda
  • Breakthrough to our opponents bases and attract the adversary

procedures:
  • Hire a team of consultants to set the norms for the corresponding programs. the team should include at least one media expert, one statisticians, an anthropologist, a PR expert, and a psychologist. this team will be in charge of putting the spins on programs to make them attractive to the Lebanese psyche.
  • broadcast with the predetermined objectives in mind, and periodically measure the progress and update the priorities accordingly.
  • periodically administer workshops and training courses to the appropriate OTV employees to critique and improve their performance.
  • Administer classes to the appropriate employees in the field of propaganda, its techniques, and how to counter it.
  • Pursuing specific courses concerning propaganda, counter propaganda, and their corresponding techniques.

here is what the reply was:
  1. this does not fall under the jurisdiction (sala7iyat) of our committee. (an official central committee that is specialized to make this kind of projects according to its official description, go figure!!!!) so we can neither present the project nor do we intend to bring it to anyone's attention. not kidding.
  2. 3atfan 3ala awwalan, the committee had presented a (top secret) classified project concerning the media to the appropriate channels. the project took more than one year in the making and was presented almost a year ago.
  3. the intersection between our project and the top secret project is about 90%.
  4. the amount of justifications (تبرير) as to why OTV should not change was just beyond ridiculous, null common sense or 100% tobyeed wejj.
90% is excellent considering the fact that we did ours in one afternoon, while the top secret and very classified project took more than one year to be completed.

to make a long story short, neither project managed to make any difference within FPM, simply because they were ignored, like almost everything else that comes from the base or middle rank leaderships. i should also point out that even our official committee needed to resort to people with personal friendships and links with roy hachem to attempt and pass these ideas along (the meeting never occurred btw). again, i cannot emphasize enough that we are no expert on the subject, to offer complete solutions, and that a team of specialists should be consulted to address the problems. but as concerned supporters we can point out the problems and exercise pressure to have them fixed.

actually i will go a step further.

GMA has great ideas that transcend time, but in terms of tactics he belongs in the 1980s. GMA should restrict himself to setting the large strategic objectives and let the younger generation especially people like sahnaouwi and 3abs build and lead the party.

it is very critical to start building a modern party ASAP.
