Can you elaborate on how this relates to my post? and how it negates it?
if the problem is people only active on negative things in your opinion as it is controversial. how does creating a positive competition where members nominate and even guests can vote or wtv the format is...is linked to your ptoblem?
you are the negative voice you are describing as the problem in this comment
You will get used to Hameedo.

True, the response to the circumstances back then was "Nazism". as for Evil, let's watch (what kind of people celebrate after dropping a nuclear bomb):

I never claimed that Westerners can't or don't do evil things. But what does this have to do with Islam?

your problem is that you always understand replies as a form of "attack on you". What I wrote was not "my personal problem with the forum".
It was a general problem that the forum imposed on all members and freedom of speech. something that was the foundation of the Oroom forum before the war on terror slogan.
Now you want more traffic to the forum by presenting virtual awards ? ... well if you're so worried about traffic and the business side of things.
add a porn section or serve as a mirror server for porn hub .. now that would be a good idea. this is how it relates to your post

This post makes no sense. Try to be clearer, otherwise I can't reply.
What needs to be clarified? shaklek daya3teh el shenkesh .. didn't you talk about evil and used Nazism to symbolize evil in your previous reply to me?
I responded to that post of yours. But now, you're bringing up Islam again. What's confusing you dear Indie? I even quoted your post, your own mentioning of Nazism as an example of "Evil" !!

You have lost track of the argument. No matter. I made myself quite clear, for those willing to understand.

No, you derailed it.
For the last time, if you want to redefine the Oroom:
first, what do you want the purpose of the forum to be? a beacon for free thoughtful dialogue or a business platform ?
based on this you can proceed to redefine the Oroom, there's no other way.

Dude...my conversation with you started when you claimed that I don't differentiate between ethnicity and religion. It had nothing to do with defining the Oroom.

You can't. Only moderators can see deleted posts. Yalla let that be an incentive for you to run in the next elections. 7adder 7alak. Not sure your new persona is helping though.

Dear Joe,

I will take this thread as opportunity to express myself regarding some issues regarding this website.

First, the several sections you have created make it complicated to find the thread you want, with one politics section it was easier, especially that in Lebanon everything is interrelated, there is politics in everything. Remember very well people are here for the enjoyment, you are not an academic institution trying to educate. I know all forums that went this way ended up closing down, please take it into consideration. Not only that, but most people use the forum through their handsets this time around, which makes it even more difficult to go through the different sections, whereas back in the day you were using desktop/laptop.

Then, in this 2019, forums are long outdated i know you are aware of it, during the time when there was msn or messenger, the trend was that people stay anonymous with nicknames online, that was the internet, and that is where forums or message boards picked up. Then when social media came to the scene the whole understanding changed with people exposing themselves totally. So you should take into consideration making people flash their real names as usernames, or even better make it that every forum account has to be linked to a facebook or twitter account, if you are allowed to do that. This will make conversations safer, and would help separate trolls from serious debates.

Bare in mind, the only reason why this forum is still alive, is because of the quality you offer, either in the quality of debates, or the quality of the interface this website has. So please try to attract more of the intellectual posters, those are your main asset, i see they have become very few, it has come down to a set of 10 regulars that have their personal issues in between, with occasional youngsters coming in every now and then.

Third, the extremism, i don't know whether intentional, but i see you have opened the door for everyone to voice themselves with all racist sectarian trash they feel like saying, good, that is smart, no one wants peaceful, lukewarm i spit of my mouth. But and a big but, this is a double edged sword, many will just refrain from posting here again, you have to keep a red line somewhere, let the racist voice himself but allow many moderates to express themselves too, keep it balanced, your forum has now the reputation of being a gathering of extremists.

Please take what I've written into consideration l nasi7a bjamal, i'm probably the oldest active member here, correct me if i'm wrong, i still do come here because its the only Lebanese forum left online.

Waiting for your response, @Jo

Thanks,

Thanks,
I just want to reply to the anonymous vs real identity issue.

Anonymous forums are still the nb 1 choice of expression on the internet, debate section in news sites, tech forums, reddit.. its all anonymous.

The aversion if the lebanese to flash their identities on facebook and instagram is very local and notba global trend. And it will decline as social media platforms are starting to lose momentum in their current configuration.

Look, i didn't post what i posted to go into a tic and tac with anyone. I'm sure you're not a cave man, and you know any debate section anywhere does not get one percent the traffic it gets on social media, reason why there exists a share link for fb/twitter anywhere you go. For instance how much do they get payed for ads here? and how much does an ad cost on known social media outlets?

Its just a suggestion anyway, i know some might traditionally feel more comfortable anonymous on forums, but the point i am making is that there is a big advantage in linking yourself open to social media, something very user friendly, it can be as much as a rebirth for this website. If it were possible that is.

True though, there is not as much inflow of new social media users in recent years as before, but that is simply because everyone is already using it, remains the few people in Tibet that don't have a facebook account.

Just throwing an idea ou there.
why not make yearly awards attributed by the forum?
if this catches on it would be a great ad for it. Non political awards like:
  • non political personality of the year
  • best restaurant
  • best bar
  • best sandwich
  • concert
  • festival
  • innovation of the year
  • biggest f* ups
  • shame award....
There is an off chance this would make a competition that would drive traffic as well as steer conversations towards outside politics a tiny bit while keeping the political roots.
We can have restaurants and clubs ratings and reviews... by members.
