The little boy in the picture (congrats by the way) inherited all this money. Elie Saab the father worked his way up from the bottom and I respect that 100%. You seeing this as some big event because he stayed in Lebanon and had his wedding is wrong. Why would he care aslan??? 3ando millions as you said. mch fer2ane ma3o chi ya man.
tal3a b ras l fa2ir!
I have different opinions but hey even brothers differ In their opinion
Not a problem

    No

    he worked from bottom
Elie Saab is the most important dressmaker in the Middle East and one of the most important in the world
I know him personally. He was our neighbor in Beirut. Absolutely he started from zero. They have been deported from damour.
He lived the Lebanese big shitty war of féodales like joumblatt Gemayel war with Palestinians. We succeeded to triumph on that filthy proxy war (right and leftist, USA against USSR) Élie Saab is one example of our force and courageous youth.

The Patriarch himself officiated the marriage ceremony. Would he officiate the marriage ceremony for the son of an average Maronite guy (the son of George who burnt himself because he could not pay fees for his kids) from a lower class or income earner?

The same with our burying ceremony for rich guys. I am not talking about Maronites only. It cuts across the sectarian divides. If a rich Muslim dies, it is the Mufti of the Republic or the Vice President of the Higher Shia Islamic Council or the "Mufti al Ja'fari al Mumtaz" that will proceed on the burial rites.

Our clergymen are businessmen in the garment of religion. Hell fire is eagerly waiting for class hypocrites. Where is the teaching of Prophet Jesus, who never appealed to the bourgeoisies, Pharisees and money changers of his time and they never appealed to him?

Please no one should crucify me. The higher clerics are reserved for the rich. The lower ranked clerics for the poorer ones. The divide and hypocrisy is clear and there is nothing to emulate here. That is a reality in Lebanon and (MAYBE) even around the world. In this case, it is all too obvious. I don't know if Elie Saab is a spiritual or a fashion figure any longer to get the kind attention of the self proclaimed "Patriarch of Antakia and all of the East"!!!

People should never forget where their from, what situation they were in (economically) and find some humbleness. A persons worth is not related to the amount in his pocket. Alot of Lebanese should learn this.

If you can afford it, by all means do whatever pleases you. But what I find disturbing is that some are taking incredibly huge loans, even selling land, to pay for a stupid wedding that no one is going to remember 2 days after the event.

    That’s not the matter bro
A lot of rich Lebanese are making their weddings outside
    Money is leaving the country
So when a person like Saab who could have went to Monaco or New York do it in Beirut spending 1 million dollars
I say it is a good example
Bro a rich guy like him
    Hundreds of millions of dollars
Could turn his back on his country
    All his work outside
    He works from here
    All his factories in Lebanon
In addition he is doing a wedding in Lebanon
So what I curse him while so many rich are putting their money outside
Personally, I prefer simpler weddings to big Lebanese ones. But that is a matter of taste and besides the point.

What @LVV is saying is that Elie Saab is an internationally renouned designer who could have held the wedding in any of the major capitals or touristic destinations of the world. Holding the wedding and keeping his head office in Lebanon shows his love and attachment to his country.

Also, his house in Beirut is one of those old, traditional villas that many people are destroying to replace with ugly skyscrapers. He could have done the same and sold the land for a big profit, but he chose to restore and save a part of our cultural heritage.

Despite what our opinions are on lavish weddings, we can still recognize the positive cultural and artistic contributions the Saab family has made to Lebanon (his son is the brand director of the company).

You sound surprised...I think it is actually very healthy and reminds us to be much more skeptical and think with our brain (that God gave us ;-) rather than follow blindly the interpretation of self interested clergymen... In the words of John Lennon, “nothing to kill or die for”. When you step back, it is VERY easy to know what to do as a decent human being. You can believe in whatever religion you want but the common, shared “codes” of living together should be very straightforward...

As to the question of this thread, my view is live and let live. If people want to do a wedding abroad and cut the list of invitees by 4, let them have it. If they want to get married in a basement with 5 people, they should be free to do it too...

while i dont disagree that doing it in Lebanon is better than doing it abroad, but a THREE DAY WEDDING will not CREATE JOBS in the country. I wish those Lebanese billionaires can create more sustainable opportunities in Lebanon, or maybe donate student grants so that less Lebanese leave their country.

@Indie, tell me how much you love @LVV's emojish fetishism in this virtual world, but how embarrassing it would have felt in a real one with someone always bending to lick your shoe, while always reaffirming his total subjugation? :)

@LVV, are you like this in real life too? A complete vouvou nice guy who impersonates a mother in law dream? Or is this an @Indie only attitude no other girl has earned so far?

Or do you suggest I mind my own business?

And by the way, who is Elie Saab?

You know I love you guys, but I don't understand how you guys think I'm going to join you in making fun of @LVV when he's being so kind to me :)

Leave the guy alone, all of you :) This is how he chooses to express himself, and it sure beats the usual macho nonsense that comes out of most men.

Just a reminder: Mikati while PM held his son's wedding in Morocco and not a single penny was spent in Lebanon.
In that perspective, good job M. Saab and mabrouk
