He's 100% right. Only Maronites and Druze vent their war crimes and boast about killing Palestinians/Christians. You don't see any Sunnis today glorifying the mourabitoun. Even Amal-supporting Shiites aren't proud of the war of the camps.

This is the trend among the Lebanese population.

glorifying civil war leaders. not just among the Maronites, also among the left, the Muslims and the Druze.
This is not just about glorifying warlords and war criminals. It is about reviving the past and seeking glory from the ill actions that they should feel ashamed of. When you are glorifying a dead person carrying a gun and pointing it at her compatriots or at refugees, that is immoral. Those dark days should be buried and not revived or glorified. Otherwise it shows the intent to relive them if given the opportunity is still there.

Hey, if the Shiites get to erect every street corner with a blown-up image of a fallen Persian general, then the Lebanese Maronites deserve the same....

Lord knows how much I despise the Iranian regime, but those generals you speak of are part of a regional war, in which Hizbullah is involved.
This is different than ethnic cleansing or killing people on the basis of religion.

When did HA kill other Lebanese because they're from another religion or massacre hundreds of innocent people in a refugee camp?
There are, no doubt, Christians who took up arms to protect their towns.
But Kataeb were looting property and killing people on ID under the pretext of "Christian resistance".

The very fact that Bachir Gemayel, Geagea, and Jumblat are still glorified as heroes, is an indicator that many Druze and Maronites, are very morally corrupt.
You'd be hard pressed to find a Sunni or a Shiite who boasts about their participation in the war.
Even though Shiites fought Palestinians, they still sympathize with their plight.

I see what you’re saying, but in the Middle East, it’s eat or be eaten. The Jews know this well, which is why they have to be as ferocious as they are.

The Sunnis and Shiites don’t have to “glorify” anything because they know that they dominate the ME. The Christians and Druze however need to project an image of power, lest they get stomped on.

Otherwise, the loser Arafat would have turned the mountains into another Palestinian ****hole.....

What difference does it make? The guy has nothing to do with Lebanon- geographically or culturally. At least the Maronites stick to domestic warlords....

If not for the Palestinians, Mourabitoun or Amal, Lebanon would have kept its role of the Switzerland of the Middle East and we would be competing with Israel in Space exploration.

In1974, we had drinkable water in the tap, 24/24 electricity, best medical centres and research centres. Amazing relationship with the West and the Arab world and peace with Israel. Palestinians would have been dispatched in Arab world and Lebanese Muslims would have benefited from the growth as we would have worldwide enterprises in Lebanon hiring everyone

but no, Lebanese leftists and Muslims in general were badly jealous and even burnt the Lebanese flag. Lebanon was built by Christians and destroyed by the other half of the population who is still very uneducated, die for others and poorer than ever begging money day and night everywhere.
Mabrouk, we hope you enjoy the dirt, poverty and instability. Israel couldn’t get better allies
