Okay then now that you know the definition, care to explain what's sexist about that ad?
mmm everything about it!

And the problem you think that we are against that ad in particular but no we are against them all in whatever shape they come if we do not make a stop to it then we must expect the worse!

Many advertisement are simply not allowed in Tripoli but in Beirut or Jouniyeh you see a 20 meter ads all over the place about alcohol, half naked women, couples kissing each others etc and you probably feel very liberal by it but we say no thanks!

I know there should be no shame, but it seams you are hesitant to admit that yourself
Admit what? That I'm not against Shariah?
It is pretty clear that I stated this before many times!

Shoo jeb toz la mar7aba :)
Not my problem you cant relate between the two .. shagheli rasak shway :)

admit that you are debating this from a shariah standpoint not from an anti-globalism anti-consumerrism standpoint like you are trying to portray

Here is where you are wrong..
I have been against globalization, consumerism etc way back since before..

I'm simply debating this out from my anti-corporatism and from my idealistic views to the world as for the Shariah obviously I saw in it the way to that idealistic view and a fulfillment to such world even if we are light years from it I want to live by these principles :)

20 Highly Sexist Print Ads That Objectify Women

How many times have you wondered what product a particular ad is trying to advertise? Quite often I believe. Logically there is no relation between naked women and beer, naked women and cars or naked women and organ donation. Trust the creativity of ad makers to accommodate scantily clad women or gender stereotypes in their ads.

Now, it’s not like naked men are not featured in advertisements or that gender stereotypes don’t play against men. And I’m just as against the objectification of the male body as of the female. Here are some such sexist ads which will make you uneasy:

    1. This beer brand which boasts of being light and hints at how that helps men stay away from fat women.

    Source: Design Your way

    2. This designer label’s ad which looks like a gang bang.

    Source: Pagesix

    3. A jewellery ad which shows how women can be bought by jewellery.

    Source: Cracked

    4. Why?

Source: This Page Will Blow Your Mind

    5. This ad which faintly hints at who is in control, economically.

    Source: Bareface

    6. Again. Why?

    Source: Imgur

    7. When it could have been anything! Anything at all!

    Source: Adrants

    8. Brilliant ad by this gaming company.

    Source: Imgwykop

    9. Vague - vanity rather.

    Source: Maddysedgewick

    10. A salon ad trivialising domestic violence.

    Source: Xnet

    11. Why do they relate their car’s features through four pairs of breasts?

    Source: Brandsynario

    12. Why in the world!

    Source: Ads of the world

    13. How do you sell a bag of crisps?

    Source: Maxcdn

    14. This ad beats all. American Apparels ad shows a unisex shirt worn by a man and a woman. See the difference?

    Source: Starcasm

    15. A car and a woman are same, right?

    Source: pbs.twimg

    16. What quality of the product gets highlighted by this ad?

    Source: adrants

    17. Or this?

    Source: msmagazine

    18. Why would they equate winning a bet with getting laid?

    Source: Bet at home

    19. Why can’t a woman be consuming alcohol in these ads instead?

    Source: skincognito

    20. Promoting leching, not their hotels.

    Source: It just bugs me

The prevalence of such images of women in advertisements is a problem. It normalizes their objectification while perpetuating stereotypes.

what does it matter if I am for hem or against them? and why are we comparing these ads to the Coca Cola ad taken down?

PS: while also banning similar ads of people almost kissing because it leads to showing gay couples kissing, we should also ban dancing because it leads to gay couples kissing, oh and talking, and bathing suits, and singing, and breathing, and mixed schools, and non mixed schools!!! In fact, let's ban schools altogether the oulama can do the thinking for mankind

Again you are being angry.. take a chill pill!

The coca-cola ad is not much different and it is not only about the coca-cola ad in itself but about all kind of ads who fall in the same category!

And yes eventually this is where they want it to go by advertising way worse things... in Beirut that is already the case and in 10 years times from now it might go much further than this... that shit never stops and it is pretty obvious!

But fine you want to ridicule it good for you but don't blame anyone but yourself when it hit you right in the face one day!

These kind of ads are proven to hurt societies!

In the beginning of the thread I pointed out that you (I'm saying you and I'm assuming you are from Tripoli because you're using we) have worst stuff to worry about in Tripoli, like putting an end to sexual predators and maybe making a registry, this is a real concern and actual perversion! A coke ad with a man and a woman almost kissing each other is not!

Ba3dena Shu jeb toz la marhaba about alcoholic ads in Christian areas? Christians drink alcohol omg Shu hal keffar! At least it's in the open not in a coke can! I find it odd you have issues with coke when Muslims are big fans ;)

You're swerving off topic in your attempts to justify this excessive censorship! I'm not a big fan of coke, I don't drink it but I also don't see anything wrong in that ad! I'm not a bleeding heart liberal either (well I am but it's not because I am that I'm defending this ad)...

If you want to hold the banner of conservatism and holding up values make sure you don't come off as a hypocrite! You saw something wrong in that ad because you consider it wrong for a man to kiss a woman while at the same watching porn at night and doing much worse to yourself lol!

To make a long story short, if you want to call something out enno khadash l haya2 l 3am, make sure you're actually upholding those values yourself!

Don't you think those in Tripoli should be caring for other issues than these ads? How about caring about work? education? the government not actually helping the city out? It's leaders are a failure? etc.. We have billionaires from our city and yet we have the most poverty compared to any other area in Lebanon.

Well there are always trillions of other things we should tackle with any city let it be Tripoli or any other area!
Just because there is a certain issue as you claim it don't mean other things become less important!

using your logic nothing should be done.. obviously there are much bigger problems in the city to deal with but it doesn't mean the smaller issues are unimportant and should be neglected because there are bigger issues!

The city and the country as whole is in deep shit!

And I wasn't referring to the Christians in my comments I was simply referring to the advertising issue in other areas who have gone way further than Tripoli or other similar cities! Trust me alcohol is widely available in the city and many people are sadly openly abusing that shit on daily bases another issue to tackle down so maybe banning alcohol advertisements in the city wasn't a bad idea after all as well!

Now you don't see anything wrong in that ad but many people in Tripoli do! So is it in their right to remove it or not in your view?

And yes you are defending that kind of ads because you love it.. it makes you feel like you are part of the world and part of the west and part of the so called "being open minded" or part of the global modernism and being all liberal somehow these advertisement makes you proud!
Obviously you would deny all this and say it is all untrue but there is a good reason why so many of you feel obligated to defend such ads!

As for watching porn I don't and how is that even related? Whatever someone do behind closed doors is his/her own business and between him/her and god!
But we are talking about public spaces here.. why should the inhabitants of a city feel uncomfortable by such ads and accept it because they shouldn't hurt the feeling of Ms. Isabella .

Again we don't want our city to fall into the same fate of other cities around the world.. these kind of advertisements should be hunted down in the city among many other things like sexual predators and other stuff!

Obviously they should.. it is not like people are not sleeping over this in Tripoli..
We are probably the only ones who are still taking about this :D

But here what happened the billboards got removed nobody gave a shit about it in the city.. that if they even noticed these ads got removed to begin with!

The issue is that we have better things to talk about and to fix in the Tripoli and the Port. We need these bastard politicians to pay for their treason against our people. Billionaires haven't lifted a finger to help our area. All they do is try to buy and buy more of our city.
People are living in poverty and if they don't get up and shout they will continue to live in poverty. This is not a sectarian issue. This issue (poverty) claim both christian and muslim lives.

Well lets talk about that then I'm open to such debate as well!

The billionaires or millionaires of the city simply don't give a shit about it or about poverty..
and that is the case with the whole world today!

This is why we should point finger at the establishment of every country who allow it instead of pointing fingers at ppl who are powerless and in weaker position like the refugees who many are hating on them and blaming them like being refugee is a choice to begin with!

It is not the fault of the government if the MPs are not doing their job for our city. It is the fault of the people who continue to vote for them. :)
We need to hold them accountable. We as Lebanese should stop blaming the government or the system for every single thing in our lives. It is not the system who told you to be corrupt, to steal, to to to....
These are human instincts. We should stop voting for people like Rifi, Mikati, Karami, etc.
We need a new bunch of people who can get the job done bas I know it will never happen.

    Like who FPM?
Thanks god I never got the opportunity to vote and will probably never ever become a voter!

And beside in Tripoli the number of voters who participate are relatively very small because simply there is no good and bad here there is only bad choice making not voting is the only good choice!

Also tripoli is still in state of war.. simply that city never saw any good since becoming part of Lebanon..
They stripped the city from Hama and Homs and alienating it.. then the Lebanese state in Beirut vandalized the city by destroying the old souk and built an ugly cement wall along the river then we got screwed by the Assadi regime by being bombarded with the equivalent of Hiroshima bombs.. then when the war was over the city was again totally neglected by the gov and not a single serious redeveloping plan was carried out.. and probably that was for the best!
