The surprise success of Sadr and Al-'Amiri in today's #Iraqi elections is a solid vote against the sectarianism and cronyism of former PM Maliki. Of course, the inclusion of communists and secularists in Sadr's coalition will make forming the next government a daunting task.

The main thing is this Abadi Iranian parasite gets defeated. Hopefully it holds and Sade and the communist party can form the government. Sadr can get the PM and start actually working for the country for once.

Big development in #IraqiElections: PM Abadi doesn't just lose in Baghdad but wins fewer votes than Muqtada al-Sadr (413,000 votes), the PMF (233,000), Maliki (211,000) and Allawi (204,000). Abadi comes fifth with just 194,000. Baghdad accounts for around 69 seats. Serious blow.

The Neocons had long spoke of "bringing democracy" to Iraq as a justification for an illegal, horrific war. Today, elections in Iraq resulted in a victory for a joint list of Shiite Islamists and Communists. You can't make this stuff up.

نتهى يوم أمس التصويت العام في عملية انتخاب مجلس النواب لسنة ٢٠١٨. وفِي هذه المناسبة نهنيء بنات وأبناء شعبنا بإكتمال هذا الاستحقاق الدستوري، الذي يأتي خطوة اخرى على طريق ترسيخ الممارسة الديمقراطية وتحقيق التداول السلمي للسلطة، وفقا لارادة الناخب الحرة .

والمفرح ان ما تحقق يوم ١٢ أيار الجاري وقبله في التصويت الخاص، مرّ بسلام وامان عموما، حيث تمكنت القوى الأمنية من توفير الحماية الكافية للمراكز الانتخابية. ويمكن عدّ هذا مكسبا جديدا لها، يضاف الى انتصاراتها وانتصارات شعبنا كله على داعش الاٍرهابي.

فتحية شكر وتقدير لقواتنا الباسلة، ولكل من عمل و أسهم في توفير الأجواء والمستلزمات الضرورية لاجراء هذه الممارسة الديمقراطية .

ونشكر أيضا كل الوكلاء والمراقبين، المحليين والدوليين، كذلك الامم المتحدة ووسائل الاعلام العراقية والعربية والعالمية، على ما بذلوا من جهود طيبة.

ولابد لنا ان نحيي بحرارة المواطن الناخب الذي ساهم في الاقتراع، ممارسا حقه في الانتخاب واختيار من يراه صالحا لتمثيله في البرلمان الجديد .

كما نحيي ونشكر من صوتوا لتحالف "سائرون" ولمرشحيه، وبضمنهم مرشحو الحزب الشيوعي، ونعاهد الجميع على المضي قدما، وبغض النظر عن نتائج الانتخابات، على طريق التغيير والإصلاح والخلاص من المحاصصة والطائفية السياسية والفساد والفاشلين، والعمل مع حلفائنا في "سائرون"، ومع القوى المدنية والديمقراطية والوطنية التي يجمعنا وإياها الكثير من المشتركات السياسية، لإنقاذ بلدنا مما هو فيه الآن ووضعه على طريق التقدم والأمان والرقي، وضمان الخير والرفاه لابنائه .

وقد كنّا نريد لهذه الانتخابات ان تجري في ظروف أفضل وعبر منظومة انتخابية كفوءة، تحرص على عدم ضياع اَي صوت من اصوات الناخبين، وعلى ذهاب كل صوت الى من يستحقه. كما كنا نريد لها ان تحظى بمزيد من الاهتمام الجماهيري وبالمشاركة الواسعة، وهو ما لم يتحقق بسبب سياسات المتنفذين وعدم تنفيذهم الوعود، وبسبب السخط على ما آلت اليه اوضاع البلد العامة. ولم نكن نريد ان نشهد ما رافقها من ثغرات ونواقص هنا وهناك. وسنعود الى هذا كله وغيره في وقت لاحق.

لنجعل من هذه الانتخابات حافزا اضافيا الى مزيد من العمل والعطاء، لتحقيق الغايات المنشودة وصولا الى إقامة دولة المواطنة والديمقراطية الحقة ، دولة المؤسسات والقانون والأمان والعدالة الاجتماعية .
