I think that’s because they are essentially on a divine mission, a mission that no one really believes in besides them. America and Trump may not really get that (at least not yet), but that doesn’t give Iranians the right to act arrogant in response to this ignorance.
To be fair, I sometime feel like being arrogant too - I know, it is stupid, but I am human and I do not always succeed fighting my primordial urges :)

As to the rest - I expressed how I understand the situation, but I am not privy to all the information that The POTUS has and I am not policy maker.

I propose we wait and see how events will develop.

Israel, Iran leaders trade Twitter blows

JERUSALEM (AFP) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday (May 20) warned arch-foe Iran after supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei tweeted comments accusing Israel of "state terrorism" and calling for "eliminating the Zionist regime".

"He should know that any regime that threatens Israel with extermination will find itself in similar danger," Netanyahu wrote on his official Twitter feed in Hebrew.

He was responding to comments posted on Twitter by Khamenei on Wednesday in Farsi, English and Arabic.

"Eliminating the Zionist regime doesn't mean eliminating Jews. We aren't against Jews," Khamenei wrote, explaining that what he meant was to "expel thugs like Netanyahu".

"This is 'eliminating Israel'," he added.

"The Zionist regime is the most evident example of state terrorism," Khamenei also wrote, saying that since the foundation of the Jewish state, Zionists "have been acting like a cancerous tumour, furthering their goals by massacring children, women and men".

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo condemned the comments.

"The United States condemns Supreme Leader Khamenei's disgusting and hateful anti-Semitic remarks," he tweeted.

"They have no place on Twitter or on any other social media platform."

Pompeo made an eight-hour visit to Israel last week, during which he accused Iran of using its resources to "foment terror" even as its people face the Middle East's deadliest novel coronavirus outbreak.

We should have a bet. Who will be a goner first, Iranian regime or Israel?

I dont bet. Bet with Net-an-Yahoo.
But certainly you are having empty hopes that the "Iranian regine" would be gone anytime soon. At least, not even baba Trump wants that. Trump wants to sit and talk. And the Iranians dont want to give him free gifts for the upcoming US presidential election or reward him for breaking an international agreement.

Are you afraid you're going to lose the bet? Oh I think you are.

He doesn't bet, maybe it goes against his personal convictions - frankly, I too do not bet or not very often.
However, I have no doubt @Rafidi is afraid that Ayatollahs will be gone.

It would be very interesting and gleeful to observe Ayatollahs's squirms in eventual lame attempt to cover up the failure:
