All hail the great mods and admins \o/

Now i just moused over my tab and behold the tab title says "oroom lebanon's number one discussion forum". While this all good and great, i just find it hard to believe.

A few years ago, *cough* before facebook *cough*, this forum could have easily flown this flag high and mighty. I remember there were a couple of competitors in the market, such as al-mustaqbal's forum and LF if i remember correctly. but after the website moved from its old name and domain and identity, and facebook's sky rocketing traffic and free flowing pages i kinda find it hard to believe.

Now out of curiosity, and a bit of ignorance too, I would like to ask a few questions:

- How many direct competitors does the oroom have in its market segment? are they at all relevant?

-I know this is a big no, but imma try it anyway :) can you share some analytics with us about traffic and average click per ad revenue? are other lebanese websites doing as good?

- how are you able to compete with facebook pages popping every 5 seconds about any topics whatsoever and attracting thousands of people liking/cursing comments.

- what is your development strategy and how can we help? and i ask this very seriously because i like this forum, and if i can do something to help spreading it i would very much like to do it.

I am just asking because i've been witnessing a decrease in new users coming into the fray and sharing their ideas, outside hameed and the many viagra selling spammers.

I hope this is not a very intrusive topic @Jo :)

and plz use this address more:D http://orangerababa.org

Hmm I can only think of one competing thing that's r/lebanon, and the discussion there is mostly passive

Relative anonymity is somewhat attractive here, people hold back thoughts on social media because they don't want to upset their friends...

But anyway maybe we can do some amas or something with relatively interesting lebanese personalities and keep the discussion civilised without too much spam, and I don't know maybe more controversial threads or something lol although I think I pretty much covered those, maybe we can troll nabih berri lmao

i put r/ in another category, not a direct competitor though, they dont seem to have the eloquence people have here :p

plus they do not need to self sustain, its jut a reddit page

maybe we can troll nabih berri lmao

They don't really it's such a boring place lol they mostly ask for recipes or post pictures -.- it's not as fun as having to figure out which spiritual concept @Dark Angel is talking about lol, or which account is the new eile or hameed... Also whether lvv is guardian or not

In regards to clicks and whatnot not sure to be honest lol

    aka reddit

outside of niche topics, reddit sucks harder than a hooker.

my go to discussion board outside lebanese topics is the exchange stack. people there will literally blow your mind with their knowledge and ingenuity
Reddit is good for technology I think

am addressing the facebooks issue because of traffic and ease of access for a majority of people how had no idea what the internet was before 2010.

lots of clicks that are not coming towards the oroom

Orange Room is the only Lebanese political forum. It is limited in its scope as it clearly represents one line of politics speaking in the name and identities of the system. As such, it is not a space of dialogue as much as a space where someone can understand how local government works and gather support of an elite that is in control of the state.

I like to see what the masses are saying about tech... I read review and texh press too.

Isabella is hard core the youtubes do not suffice I bet she watches it all. Instagram may be good for her as well

    @Iron Maiden

I share the numbers of the forum on a yearly basis.

Here are 2014: The Orange Room 2014 in numbers | The Orange Room - Lebanon's number one discussion forums

And 2016: The Orange Room 2016 in numbers | The Orange Room - Lebanon's number one discussion forums

As you can see, numbers are declining.

However, this year is much better than last year, i think our numbers for 2017 will be better than 2016.

How do you think you can help? The forum is an open book for you :)
The make up of this site is not diverse enough. This is a direct result of its roots being an FPM site and many miss-steps, before you took over mostly, in fostering bias and aggressively managing content. My best recommendation to grow this site is to make it more diverse and growing participation from all political views.

I wouldn't have named it the orange room for example.
