Michael Aoun 4 Years Later, what has he achieved?

The most competent man on the planet would not be able to achieve much with neutered presidential powers and a state almost wholly controlled by militia warlords, organized crime kingpins, Ponzi schemers and sectarian paramilitary groups.

Aoun's presidency is worth being analyzed and debated. Many things he did right, some things he did wrong. Successes and failures.

That's right. The presidency has no real power. But President Aoun failed more than previous presidents because he was the hope for many.

The Aounists fought fiercely for the presidency, and when they got it, they raised big slogans: Al-3ahd Al-qawy, Lubnan Al-qawy, Bayelkel. When asked what did he change, they would argue that the president has no powers and has no ability to change on his own. They are right about it. Their mistake is that they deluded everyone and themselves that there is a big change on the horizon when they get the presidency, while they were unable to do the slightest achievement. Years of fighting were for nothing.

In my opinion, the biggest mistake President Aoun made was that he could not reach an understanding with Berri. Berri is the real strong president in Lebanon. Everything must pass through him. If anyone bypasses him, things will be disrupted. President Aoun was able to reach an understanding with corrupt people, some of whom were his allies and members of his parliamentary bloc, and he shared the powers with others. There is no moral barrier preventing Aoun from reaching an understanding with Berri. If he could reach an understanding with Berri, then Hariri and Jumblatt would not have been a problem.

Berri is the strong president of this Lebanon
Aoun wants to become the strong president of a new better Lebanon
They are diametrically opposed, any strategic gain for one is a strategic loss for the other
How would Berri be able to finance his mafia if billions in revenue from the fuel used for generators are cut in favor of power plants in order to solve the electricity issue? And so on
