I agree to most of your assessment.

However the short sightness of FPM, their internal broken processes, the glaring practice against their original principles, made me and many people leave ship.

I think aoun is a good man but FPM is not skilled for the job.
i think FPM's greatest sin is that it thought itself to be a global and regional player, and needed to put its feet back on the ground, which is already in the process. let's hope it is not too late and that it will be done correctly this time around, because there will be no second chances nor will there be alternatives.

Let me ask you a question.

How come no one from FPM ever spoke against riad salemeh and his disastrous policies.

Why would I believe in FPM again? They should have been auditing the central bank every year. Who is advising aoun?

What would happen if the MPs go against the Mufti and name someone other than Hariri?

because the most damaging component of FPM's practices is that it carries out its agendas behind closed doors. the president and FPM worked hard to replace riad salemeh, but their mistake is the same one they committed when facing the hurdles in the government, they never came open about it and they didn't publicly name the people they hold responsible and accountable by name.

That's perhaps true, questionable. To me it shows an incompetent presidency and govt.

So it was aware of the bankruptcy, and it was aware that their foreign policy aligned to HA will result in sanctions, yet remained silent?

Do you see the gravity of the failure and situation? They have been in the govt for 3 years. I know the situation is an accumulation, but for god's sakes, pull the alarm trigger. People are starving.

it is like a tall building overlooking a complicated scene, the view changes with every floor you climb. the media and the parties want you stay on the ground level. but the higher you climb, the better you will be able to see. but that also comes with its own set of questions.

for instance, at some level it is very obvious that FPM is really pissed with HA. they no longer wish to play the buffer role for free, in particular when there was no reciprocation nor support in critical and pivotal government situations. it is not simply that there was no support, in many cases FPM projects were hindered by what the base now refers to as the "thuna2i", as HA's silence and passivity towards these issues was very damaging. at best, i want to say it was a bad calculation from HA, not sure why they worked so hard to weaken their Christian ally, which was very evident in the previous elections as well, all the nasty deputies who stood against tayyar were sponsored by nabih birri, not to mention the constant media attacks for years against bassil.

so now they can no longer ask FPM to play the buffer role at the expense of our own interests, in particular in the light of the existential threats we are facing in the region. we have honored our agreements with both hariri and HA and didn't back stab anyone.

so back to that building, it also seems that at some level, it may appear as though both HA and Hariri hold each other's interests more dearly than either of them hold the president's or FPM, or even the Christian interests, despite the fact that a buffer zone is needed more than ever to prevent sunni/shiite clashes. this is one of the reasons why bassil and even the president no longer want to be part of this game when it is always played at their expense. they're not coming back to the government without serious changes and guarantees, and lip service doesn't cut it anymore.
3ajib amerkon ya FPMers. Your leader clinched a deal with Hariri and the Shia were pissed at a Maronite-Sunni alliance that saw the Shia voice relegated to the back seat for a year or more. We voiced our concern and it was throughout Basil-Hariri riding the tide. Now Hariri showed you guys why you can't trust him and you're back to your old ranting of victimization. Its no one's fault Saad is a foreign investment in Lebanon, who can't be relied upon by his fellow Lebanese. And in case you dont understand what I am saying. Let me clarify a little further. Saad is the only Lebanese leader that has disagreements with all those in govt. He has had issues with Geagea, to the extent that Geagea abandoned him when he was kidnapped in Saudi Arabia. He has had issues with Jumblatt and Hezballah and FPM. He only acts based on the button pressed from abroad.

Your concern is valid that he should not return as PM and for March 8 parties and allies who have a majority to nominate a clean Sunni face. I hold that notion and I hope it happens. Saad is not part of the solution and not part of the future Lebanon needs. He is part of an old corrupt political dynasty. But unfortunately, Hezballah and Amal think that Hariri should remain to clear his mess. How that is going to happen, I dont know. And I hope we see a surprise tomorrow and someone other than Hariri is nominated.

I have a strong feeling Saad is not the one who will be nominated tomorrow. Both FPM and Hezballah won't nominate him from the look of things. If Hezballah was going to nominate him, SHN would have clearly stated that in his speech on Friday. He didn't. That means all options are open. I have a strong feeling we are in for a surprise nomination. A technocrat govt but led by a clean and fresh Sunni face (not Hariri) will be formed under the supervision of the president and all politicians, MPs and old faces will be out and no foreign conspiracy against the resistance in the new govt.

I think FPM did the wrong thing by giving out the notion that the present reign of Aoun as president is a "3ahd qawi". There is nothing like a 3ahd qawi for any Maronite president post Taef. For as long as our system of governance remains sectarian and parliamentary, there is nothing and there will be nothing like ra2is qawi. The president is but a paper tiger to a large extent. I am not boasting. I am only stating the obvious reality. So you gave out the notion you're in charge while actually no one single entity is in charge in Lebanon and there is no central authority. Governance in Lebanon is at best fragmented along sectarian lines. Every sect acts as an independent republic and takes control from its local leader. You have put yourselves in the face of the storm by calling this period 3ahd qawi. Everything that happens is blamed on Aoun and his 3ahd. When in fact Aoun doesn't control most things that happen. I heard a Sunni friend even blaming Aoun for the Lira depreciating. You have given the notion of a 3ahd qawi and to be the ones in charge while you're not and now every disaster is blamed upon you because you assumed responsibility without having the power to act.

once again, i was talking about "THESE PROTESTERS" and not the whole revolution, i saw them on TV, and that's all they were chanting.. and NOTHING about hariri.. later on, i saw an announcement about an anti-hariri protest tomorrow. But today, this group of protesters were only chatting about ONE person, and i wondered why... if you don't see anything wrong with it, it's ok...
You decided that "these protesters" (and yes, I'm also talking about these protesters) are only attacking Bassil based on, literally, a 10 second video clip or whatever TV segment you watched?

This is intellectual dishonesty at its finest. The problem with you and the rest is that you cherry pick information that suits you, generalize from it and pretend it's reality and then believe what you're saying. It's super easy to do this when there are thousands of people from all walks of life, but it's weak.
