Have you even been to these places I wonder!

Yes a woman might feel uncomfortable and stared at if she is wearing short shorts where you can see half her butt cheeks or her nipples can be seen through her shirt or whatever!

I don't know about Dubai or Abu Dhabi never been there but in Tripoli I remember seeing a girl walking just like I described and all the people were looking at her even the women were looking looool its was bit fun to see but disgusting at the same time..

But to say.. to walk without a veil would likely make woman uncomfortable in tripoli or in the south is untrue..
never in my life I saw a problem with that! Unless you could tell us a story you experienced in those areas!

And just imaging if men started to wear revealing clothing like showing parts of their balls :asshat: like women show half their boobs wouldn't that feel very uncomfortable ?

Also a veiled woman can feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome walking in some Christian areas in Lebanon too..
veiled women are not welcome in Christian areas. They can remove their cover

Not this nonsense again. If you guys want some “soul,” go hike in the woods and look at the stars. The city is about $$$ and action, especially downtown....
It is a ghost town; used to be filled by Gulf tourists for couple of months a year.

    Now it is deserted.

I've been to numerous cities in Europe; no where the downtown is artificial as Beirut DT!

Well, we worship Virgin Mary, who is a Saint. But veiled women are not welcomed in the Western countries nor in Christian areas in Lebanon. I am just stating a fact not inventing stories. Try and go with a veiled woman for few hours and you will see many people looking at you.
Why ? Just look at Egypt. 30 years ago no veiled women. Today if you walk without cover you get raped and I know this very well

Martyrs' Square needs some greenery but Downtown Beirut today looks better than it ever did.

I agree Downtown must be upscale, representing the best Lebanon has to offer, but the Burj is as much part of Beirut as Dt should be.
Ironically, you are showing Sehet l Nejme during New Year, the other is same pic but during normal days (empty) and the last one is Zaytouna Bay.

Beirut should be catered to the needs of its inhabitants too, and not forsake its "Sha3bawe" aspects for the sake of appearing upscale, luxurious and building tall office buildings. It should be a vibrant DT, not just a ghost town.

To be precise, it is a shame that Sehet l Chuhada and the Burj were scarred and turned into parking lots, without any greenery. Vienna has luxurious and vibrant "people" aspects, and not just confined to huge, expensive buildings and shops that PEOPLE USED TO OWN but were forced out of for Solidere and had to buy back at triple or more the price or get compensation in terms of useless shares.

In the end, ma 7adan ra7 ya3ref imet l chaghle ela iza de2a w khosera. How could you relate with the loss if all you ever saw was the new "rebuilt" DT?

Then again, where is the citizen's place in a city suited for foreigners/tourists ? But who cares, as long as we have a modern looking empty and unreal DT built by a thief and founded on our forefathers's hardships who lost their birthright.
