Mikati, Diab, Salameh and Kheirddine are all named in the leaked papers.
Qatar, Jordan, UK, Azerbjian politicians all named there too.

While this is somehow known and not new, makes me wonder how wealth is digital and sinful where the wealthy find illegitimate way to save money and add to its Billions. While the poor is just celebrating for the pennies before spending them again to the super wealthy table.

I don't preach communism but this era where the likes of Bezos and the princes of the Khalij and our hypocrite politicians who wear the religious cover while inside they go after every penny possible to save even if it is illegitimate.

Sources name Salameh which is not a surprise really after all the allegations against him. Never heard of Kheirddine but it looks he's best at this game. Same for Mikati and our bright and "nazih" Hassan Diab. Of course the base tatar of Lebanon will not give a shit and continue their lives applauding to the ones who steal every day their moneys

Lebanon PM Mikati among officials named in Pandora Papers

Other Lebanese officials listed as wholly or partially owning offshore companies include Mikati’s predecessor Hassan Diab, businessman and former MP Neemat Frem, and Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer of Bank Audi Ibrahim Debs.

Marwan Kheireddine, chairman of Al-Mawarid Bank and a former minister, was revealed to own two offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands, one alongside former Central Bank Deputy Governor Mohammad Baasiri.

The other company is co-owned with the brother-in-law of Iqbal Mirchi, who was wanted by Indian police less than a decade ago on drug trafficking charges.

Records show that Kheireddine, a prominent commercial banking figure in Lebanon, and his brother registered six companies in the United Kingdom, four of which were set up just months before Lebanon’s financial meltdown began in September 2019.

Kheireddine was also widely criticised in August 2020 for purchasing a $9.9m penthouse in New York from Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence.

Unfortunately we're talking about a country where these guys become prime ministers. They all hid their money offshore and left the depositors to pay the bill for their corruption. They sleep in their beds with bellies full of caviar while children are starving in theirs because their parents didn't make enough money that day to feed them.

And then you have people defending them, like mr salameh who became untouchable recently by law in Lebanon, and think to yourself yeah i feel bad for some of the lebanese but let this f*cking country burn to the ground with everyone in it.

Sorry all, but i don't see the problem in that. There is a loophole and it is completely legal. Individuals from all domains and sectors do it... Sports, Government, private, public etc...

But it gives you insights of the real business which is linked to not only corruption but also money laundering, slavery, drugs, ....

وطنية - صدر عن مكتب رئيس مجلس الوزراء نجيب ميقاتي البيان الآتي: "في ضوء "أوراق باندورا" التي تم الكشف عنها مؤخرا، من المهم التأكيد على حقيقة أن أصل ثروة رئيس الوزراء اللبناني نجيب ميقاتي وعائلته مستمدة من أكثر من 20 عاما من العمل المستمر في قطاع الاتصالات، والذي بلغ ذروته في عام 2005، مع إدراج شركة الاتصالات (التي كانت تمتلكها عائلة ميقاتي)في مجلس الإدارة الرئيسي لبورصة لندن، والاندماج اللاحق مع شركة الاتصالات الرائدة

إن ملكية موناكو، من بين الأصول الأخرى حول العالم، المذكورة على وجه التحديد في "الأوراق"، ليست الملكية الوحيدة المملوكة من خلال كيان شركة، إذ تندرج معظم الأصول والممتلكات العائلية تحت مبدأ الإدارة والحوكمة الرشيدة ذاته، وبات تنظيم الملكية عن طريق الكيانات القانونية التي توفر المرونة بالإضافة إلى المزايا المؤسسية والمالية والضريبية، من الممارسات التجارية الشائعة والقانونية في حال مشاركة العديد من أفراد العائلة الأصول نفسها.

بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تم التصريح عن أصول وممتلكات الرئيس نجيب ميقاتي الى المجلس الدستوري في لبنان منذ دخوله عالم السياسة، وفق القوانين والقواعد والأنظمة المعمول بها.

تجدر الإشارة إلى أنه ليس كل الأشخاص المذكورين في "أوراق باندورا" متهمين بالضرورة بارتكاب مخالفات. كذلك، ليس بالضرورة أن تحدث كل الثروات المتراكمة على حساب الصالح العام والمحتاجين.

للأسف، انجرف المنطق الكامن وراء "الأوراق" نحو تحويل معظم، إن لم يكن جميع المذكورين إلى أفراد و/أو شركات "مشبوهة"، فقط لمجرد إدراجهم هناك. ويتعارض هذا المنطق مع ممارسات السوق الحرة والحوكمة الرشيدة، في الاقتصادات الليبرالية، والمبادئ التي تدافع عنها عائلة ميقاتي.

منذ إنشائها، أيدت مجموعة

(شركة عائلة ميقاتي) كما وكل الشركات التابعة لها في كل أنحاء العالم، الفصل بين القطاعين العام والخاص. وتستمر في الامتثال الكامل للمعايير العالمية كما وبتوكيل مراجعين عالميين، إضافة إلى العمل في ولايات قضائية متعددة.

I fully agree!
Take Jordan King who's basically exempt from any taxes as king. So he's not evading paying taxes. The reason he would use safe havens might be in case one day he's overthrown by an external power so he can secure his family. I would be doing the same...

Ok let me say it again.
the same method is used by convicted and fugitives and by money launderers and women / children traffickers and arm smugglers

Even if it is legal it shows tax evasion and offers secrecy to their assets to protect them from creditors. and worst than that it worsens the wealth imbalance between rich and poor

The offshore companies amount to $11 trillion. 130 billionaires on the Forbes Magazine list are in the Pandora Papers.

so what Diab and Mikati are stating is just rubbish

Could be legal, the issue is that it's unethical. These people knew the collapse was happening, they caused it, and they escaped with their ill earned money leaving the rest of the lebanese to foot the bill. You have prime ministers and bank owners on the list. Why should their assets be protected while the lebanese who trusted these institutions with their blood, sweat and tears be the only ones paying for the collapse?
