The other day I was passing through Tarik Jdideh and a major fight erupted; apparently Bahaa is working on attracting supporters in Tarik Jdideh since months now if not years.
Well Bahaa have 2 things that Saad lacks ; fresh money and regional support!
with 1$ = 4000 - 5000 L.L. it will be easy for him to build massive popularity in Sunni poor areas.
Attacking HA/Bassil is another way for him to attract Sunni votes.
With Wiam Wahhab cheering for him shows that a major deal between Syria and Saudi Arabia is being prepared.
Now what will be the reaction of HA/FPM ? Will they let the Hariri play of 92 be done all over? If not what is the alternative? Especially if IMF refused Diab's plan?
We, as people, thanks to our leaders, who are compromised and political harlots, are in mess.
We really do not matter much if a foreign agreement is all it would require to make political changes in Lebanon. It makes our elections questionable because they dont prove effective in deciding Lebanon's destiny. We as a people dont have a say. We elect a bunch of parliamentary with absolute powers to do and undo, and even to extend their mandate without recourse to the people. And these parliamentarians can easily be bought and sold and imposed and deposed through the agreement of foreign countries. Those who refuse to abide by foreign dictates would be slapped with sanctions and sabotage. It's either freedom or hunger or we are satisfied financially and enslaved politically. This is the reason the entire system needs change. The people need to take back powers from parliament. Whether it has to do with directly electing the presidents, PM and speaker or lifting parliamentarians immunity or banking secrecy, full implementation of Taef and undoing the congressional system etc.
I hope we dont fall into the corner of having Syrians and Saudis determine our leaders again. The sad past should not return. The sad past some people like because it favoured them while it violates Lebanon's dignity as an independent country that deserves some international respect.
If any international monetary, financial or political agreement is to be reached, it should be reached directly between the nations frustrating our independence and efforts and the parliamentary majority voted for by the people. And such agreement doesnt entail imposing a foreign agent on the country who can be manipulated with strings. If the majority in parliament has chosen Diab or any fresh, uncorrupt and clean face, then foreign countries should have dealings with us through that official channel. Not through an imported agent imposed on the country like his father was.
The shameful days of rejoicing when "seen seen" are happy and agree on our behalf on our leadership shouldn't return. What happens when "seen seen" have disputes? Our govt falls and they use Lebanon as their experimental battlefield. We dont want Bahaa and we dont want "seen seen". We disagree for for Saudis and Syrians to choose who should lead us. Ste7o. And this is directed mainly at the majority in parliament in case they are in tune with bowing to foreign countries impose a foreign agent on us. And the foreign agent is meant to execute their agendas. Bahaa, from the little I know has good relations with both the Syrian leadership and the Saudis. When he chooses to side with one over the other, we enter into turmoil. He cant serve two masters. The end of it will be turmoil all over again after a short break of mutual understanding between teonforeign countries. We have to find a way not to return to that era. We presently have a good guy as PM and we can have another and another good guy, with a clean and incorruptible face and approach for PM and whichever country wants to help us and cares about fighting corruption and establishing good relations with us, outside the grip of corrupt men should speak to Mr Diab. Diab should be empowered by foreign powers who value their friendship with the Lebanese people.
In the end of it all, when leaders are not answerable to the people (already divided into sects and) in whose name they speak, and elections are just mere formality and eye service to legitimize the rule of the corrupt, why do we imagine we can stop the country from being looted and destroyed over and over again by the same men and their kids and grand kids?
