You're linking up issues that are unrelated.Who claimed they are fast because they ran inlands? I am just describing how it started and why it lasted until easily the 60s and why some people still claim it and i am not saying its true!! a stereotype stays even if it is completely false....you misunderstood my post or you did not read it.
The whole point is that this started with slavers and even if it has proven to be wrong the stereotype is still there...and until the 60s black people in the USA due to segregation were not included in swimming sports as they cannot be in the same pool as the whites were never able to prove themselves.
And the equatorial guinee story is the stereotype that they are not able to shake off!! let me guess the previous record was help by a white person but no one linked that to being white?
here ya go:
American swimmer Simone Manuel made history with a joint-first place a freestyle event, becoming the first black female swimmer to win an Olympic gold.www.bbc.com
I advise you to reread what i wrote .... you understood the complete opposite of what i said.
It is not a negative stereotype when it is obvious one race excels in a particular sport and not in the other. It has to do with physiology, and not racism. I still dont buy the slavery/racism link to swimming and Blacks underperforming.
And bringing up an article that a White guy held the slowest record in a swimming event is also BS. It is like saying a Black guy in a pack of 8 Black sprinters took last. Of course, that is what is going to happen when all of them competing are from the same race. Do you expect the skin color of the one taking last position to evolve to another color within the spate of ten seconds or 2 minutes?
Leave Blacks and swimming aside. White people cannot run faster than Black people. It is a fact. So explain why White people can't run fast.
