Sorry to interrupt the highly intellectual conversation that everyone is so eagerly partaking in as usual (1 M14er makes a comment and the next 20 comments are from M8ers attacking him - original guys, go for the low-hanging fruit), but I've got a question... What is the significance of SHN making this statement? Obviously they made a mistake when they shot down that helicopter. What makes this such a revolutionary thing? Have we come to expect so little of our politicians / religious authorities that when they say something obvious we need to congratulate them for it?
When you have an armed entity such as HA that is accountable to no one in Lebanon, is armed to the teeth, and fights in a decentralized, guerrilla style way, this kind of thing is going to happen every so often. Unless someone can prove that they did it on purpose (btw if they did, what would be the motivation?), let's end it here... Let's accept that this divine hero who shot down the helicopter served his time in jail and is now once again racking up the karma points, maybe by fulfilling his jihadist duty in Syria.
The real question is whether HA as it exists today is something that the Lebanese people want/need, and if the answer is yes, then occasionally an incident such as this can happen. But if we're going to be criticizing people for attacking the army, let's start first with those who did it on purpose and were proud of it in their sermons and videos on YouTube, and of course whichever idiots are defending them.

The helicopter in question was forced to make an emergency landing. Depends on your definition of "shot down" whether that qualifies.They shot down a helicopter?!When?

"Shot down", act of shooting at something flying, you shoot down a helicopter using strela, Igla or with any of the available AA launchers; usually the intention behind using the AA guns is to destroy the flying object being aimed at; that object either explodes on impact or lose control leaving gravity take care of the free fall, hence the term "shot down".
On this day 13 years ago Captain Samer Hanna's helicopter was shot down in the south leading to his martyrdom.
May his soul rest in peace.

Fekko into 3an sama el Hariri and M14. Read the posts of this thread. You are blaming M14. Instead of protesting for the control of HA on the military court, you are blaming it on the weakness of M14. Some members are making fun of what happened and asking Nayla to go catch the killer. Besides...

apparently it was an error.. "to err is human".... and even among the most advanced armies, mistakes and errors happen. the armed people are young people, afraid and sometimes impulsive... here follows small examples of friendly fires which led to casualties.. (taken from wikipedia)...
