With the introduction of Syria’s #10 Absentee property law, the syrian refugees crisis have grown even further.

We need to see serious efforts being put to resolve this crisis.

Gebran Bassil has accused the UNHCR - which has repeatedly said the situation inside Syria is too insecure for returns - of intimidating refugees who wish to voluntarily go back into not doing so.

Syria is now mostly considered safe.

Bassil has already attempted to suspend the United nations refugees agency from further residency applications only to get opposed by his fellow ministers and Hariri the PM.

What the hell is going on?
Why is Bassil getting attacked and not supported in this matter ?

The Syrian refugees crisis cannot continue any longer. This is something that all the Lebanese people should agree on.

Those people need to feel Not welcome in our country.

They are a burden to ou economy
They are a burden to our society
They are taking over jobs
They are overcrowding schools
They are overcrowding hospitals
They are consuming electricity that we don’t have already.

They are a Danger on our country and society and they need to leave right now.

I refuse any opposition made against Gebran Bassil in his serious efforts to bring this matter to a resolution.

We need to raise the voice and give him the support he needs.

General Security have serious responsibilities,
They need to start knocking doors, round them up and hand hold them accross the border so they can claim their properties and get the hell out.

Actually, I was shocked when I saw that the renovations of the Church in my area has is being contracted to Syrians, also most of the streets are being fixed by Syrians meaning that the municipality which is part of government is contracting Syrians to do their work rather than Lebanese. I live in an area where some LF and FPM run the show.

sunnis will use them against the shia

shia likes to islamize lebanon and will say hey at the end they are muslims, our brothers and will ask like shi 30k irawi shgia be made lebanese as well

the same way sunni and shia did the 1994 500k tejneess and keep blocking the court orders from being implemented ,when it cancelled about 72k citizenship

Is it Really Wise to Go After the UNHCR?

Caretake Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil decided to “halt the renewal of residency permits issued for UNHCR staff in Lebanon, saying the decision was not in line with Lebanese policy” claiming the “UNHCR had scared refugees away from returning through a series of warnings and threats”.

Yes we all want refugees to go back to Syria and we all want to end this humanitarian crisis but at what cost? Going after UN agencies and the UNHCR that are helping us cope with this crisis and have been funding tons of projects including hospitals and schools? It’s no secret that UN doesn’t believe it’s safe to return to Syria as they’ve expressed and a lot of agencies are insisting conditions are not safe for return yet. The country is still at war and you can’t just ask people to return to a safe zone no matter where that is.

Having said that, it’s a very serious accusation that’s being directed towards the UNHCR of forcing refugees to stay and I hope there’s proof behind it, because as far as I know, the UN doesn’t stop voluntary returns but advises against it especially when another country is at war. Who’s going to do the job of these agencies when they’re gone? Are we going to kick 1 million+ Syrian refugees back home? Would the Syrian Regime agree on that? If that’s the case, why aren’t we negotiating with him in the first place?

If we’re looking for parties whose intentions are to settle Syrian refugees, we need to look beyond the UNHCR and see what’s being cooked for Lebanon abroad, at countries so desperately willing to help us out, give us billions and disregard our practices from mismanaging garbage, sea pollution, countless human rights violations and attacks on freedom of expression.

We all want our country’s best interest but I’m not really sure such actions are going to speed up the return process of Syrian refugees. If anything, it might backfire on us and drag us all down even further.

Do you think if the lebanese government makes a deal with Basho concerning the refugees , the uNHCR will be able to stop them from returning ?
    True
    However
    This is not about UNHCR.

Apparently, certain groups in Lebanon do not even want to cut a deal with Bacho

I have no doubt in that, that's why tell Bassil to focus on the important subject and not to create a problem when there is no need to.

Only Druze and Maronites would benefit from giving citizenship to Syrian Druze and Maronites. This is because Lebanon is occupied by Sunnis and Shi'a already. Now, in the case of Sunnis they wish to be the majority so they would want to increase their growth through nationalizing Sunnis and Palestinians.

The only loser from giving citizenship for all of the above is the Shi'a, since there are less than 3% Syrian Shi'a and no such a thing as in Shi'a exists in the Palestinian view of religion. So, the Shi'a use natural methods of growth by making their babies locally.

    The return of refugees easy
    Two measures
Give State Security green light to stop Syrians illegal work in Lebanon ( it is their mission in the law)
Council of defense could take that decision bypassing Harriri
Also Order that any Syrian who came and go between Syria and Lebanon lost his refuge status
With this 500,000 Syrians will leave Lebanon in 6 months

How would the maronites benefit from naturalization as there is only 50-60K maronites in Syria??? The 3% shia are more than the maronites in Syria. As usual minnek the maronites and the maronites. I suggest if the shia dont like to live here fiyoun yifello 3a syria kameina... they with the Iranians have carved out their shia state on the coast.

    1) a law prohibits the syrians from working without paying taxes to the state.
    2) any syrian that returns home he loses his right to refugee status and hence cannot stay on lebanese land.
    3) it is time to move all of them to the border which should have been done ages ago.
