So the protests in France are on their 4th week and don't seem to be slowing down despite the government rolling back the gas tax increase...

This thread is dedicated to the gilets jaunes: who are they? What do they want? Are they left or right leaning? Why the gilet jaune symbol? All these questions and more we will try to find answers to together

PS: @HannaTheCrusader I can tell you right now they're not "your people ":p

I feel similar to you kinda! It's hard to sympathise with people who are ready to deface the arc de triomphe and pull rocks off the streets! But at the same time I can see why some of them have legitimate demands

If they hate cars, why are they protesting the raising of gas prices?

Bunch of resentful leftists. They should count their blessings for living in France. And if they're not happy, let them move to communist North Korea.

Its both the left and the right that are on the streets...melenchons as well as lepens and both are looking to recup the movement...its not a right/left issue...

    hors sujet ..knowledge is rare
anyway you do not how the french economy works...research the french "retraite" system and tell me without the injection of a new workforce how would that work!?
why are you upset? i am telling you man, they need more immigrants to create more jobs and fix the economy. obviously it doesn't require geniuses to figure it out. it is a given, more immigrants = better economy. no? there is enough for everybody dude, let them all come to share in the wealth.

also, increasing unemployment benefits has a tremendous effect on the economy, people will have more to spend and the economy will boom.

keep up the good work man, and soon true equality will be achieved throughout all of france.

People who rant against the bourgeois are usually leftists. That being said, far-right people can have socialist ideals as well. The Nazis were socialists. It's even in their name.
Usually i agree that leftists call people bourgeois but what is happening in france is not usual today. GUD is tagging every street. Both antifas and extreme right wingers are in play as well as normal people from both the left or the right!
So in conclusion as there is both leftists are right wingers in the picture that guy might be a leftist but the movement is not a leftist one what so ever and the people on the streets refused to be tagged politically and say they have no representation...
The complexity of this is the fact that they have as many voices as people on the streets and they refuse to put representatives to discuss...so people breaking shit all over are from the left/right/random poor and ze3ran
