The October 17 "Thawra", One Year Later: What Has It Achieved?

A bunch of dishonest people who hate each other and United just to kick out Christians and especially FPM.
They all love HA or Hariri or Berry or Jumblat. This was a Thouwra against the National Pact

Perfect description. It was a coup against Christians coming back to power thru FPM; unfortunately, with so called other "christian" parties and individuals.

But no one can break FPM nor Aoun

The main
As we approach the anniversary of the so-called revolution that began on the 17th of October, we look back and wonder - what did it achieve? What came of it?

My personal outlook of it is, sadly, extremely negative:

-Not only has the mafia state not been dislodged, it has actually become more entrenched. Hariri is favorite to become PM for the 5th time. Joumblatt's monopolist-feudalist empire is untouched. Berri's criminal network has become an accepted reality within the public consciousness.

-The mafia state media is still free to misdirect, misinform and whitewash without consequences. Journalists on payrolls being dictated what to say and how to say it conduct character assassinations on Aljadeed, while MTV and LBC whore themselves out to whoever coughs up the cash... People still watch them and believe them without question.

-The judiciary is ridiculously corrupt, yet has been spared from any attack. The truth behind the August 4 Beirut explosion will forever be hidden from the public, as Judge Ghassan Ouweidat - a person directly responsible for the catastrophe - is heading the investigations and putting into custody those who attempted to blow the whistle on the nitrate depots. At the same time, honest prosecutors and lawyers get probed by compromised committees while gang leaders like Geagea and Franjieh openly harbor fugitives - and the public doesn't bat an eye.

-The country's economy has been truly and deeply ****ed. I don't care if our financial system was destined to go into freefall sooner or later. The false revolution hastened our demise and contributed heavily in destroying what little was still holding on, only to completely fail at backing real change and accountability when the opportunity presented itself.

-The people are so radicalized and divided that a civil war is no longer out of the question. All bridges of communication have been burned and would take years to reestablish. Echo chambers have been reinforced. Sober, reasonable thought has been replaced with extremism and refusal to find a middle ground.

-Bullying and harassment have become widely accepted. The filth of humankind, like Gino Raidy and Pierre Hashash, can sway opinions and accuse whoever they want of whatever they want. The fake "thawra3" has given a platform for the worst of us to drag us all down to their level.

-The common man's will to revolt and change has been exploited and drained dry by parasitic political parties to the point where another movement is almost impossible to awaken, at this point. The population is escaping the country en masse... A true exodus.

I could go on for pages, but it all amounts to the same thing: the Oct. 17 revolution has been a tragically fatal event in the history of this nation. A lie. A scam. Nothing good came out of it, and I don't see how anything will.

But that's my opinion. What is yours?

Come on @Dr. Strangelove

the Thawra exposed all of what you are saying. It also exposed the ponzi scheme the government was supporting. It did not hasten anything, Lebanon was a ticking time bomb and the bomb exploded. Covid19 was the nail in the coffin.

What do you expect people to do when the fires happened and then the government decides to put more austerity measures on the population? like increasing VAT and the ludicrous whatsapp tax. sit and do nothing? People were fed up.

Forget about Gino and Pierre Hashash, let them talk, but talk to people who were there and had nothing to lose, especially that many are unemployed and even don't have any money to put food on the table. You are saying it's the thawra's fault the men in their mid 20s and early 30s don't have jobs and have been sitting in cafes drinking argileh till 3 am in the morning for the past 4 years? Hyperinflation and buying Listerine at the price of 50,000 lira is also the Thawra's fault? capital controls and no more USD reserves are because of those pesky grumpy protesters?

come on man.

The biggest danger to christians are people like yourself and @vicking747 , and there are plenty of you out there.
People like you stood against the protests, and in support of the ruling mafia that destroyed the country's economy which is leading to a mass exodus of christians.

One good thing the protests achieved is exposing some people for who they are. Exposing some self-proclaimed clean parties(mainly HA/FPM) who jumped to the rescue of the mafia state, and proved to be as corrupted as their so-called enemies.

If PMA wants to save whatever is left of his image, he should lead the change inside FPM and kick out people like yourself and reform the party.

Either you are ignorant or a liar.

Shamss tal3a w ness sheyfeh. The protests were led by Geagea and Kataeb; Geagea himself said it; his thugs were all over the tv cutting the roads on people.
Those who cut Naemeh and South road on people than Ahlan bel Za3im Joumblat...
You destroyed the country in order to bring Aoun down.

You failed but you destroyed the country. But, you don't care.

Whatever floats your boat. No wonder you guys became the laughing stock of everyone. Completely out of touch with reality.

PS: Of course Kataeb and geagea will try to benefit from protests, its politics. It doesn't ,however, mean it was all them. Bil moukhtasar al moufid, tda7ako 3laykon that "those are all FMers, LFers, PSPers" to make u stand against reform and protect the mafia. Mabrouk, bas don't cry victim about christians - your stupidity is your biggest enemy.

No, everyone is literally everyone who is not FPMer. FPM really became a maskhara in all standards, thanks to its amateurish and incompetent leadership.

The coup failed but they destroyed the country just like they did in 1990.

Stop blaming others, you and your political alliance have been in total control since May 2008. You destroyed the country.

Bi kaffe self-victimization and distributing blame, hold your party accountable for once.

First of all thanks for censoring the F word, 3eib.
Tene shi, you integrated yourself into the ruling mafia. You don't get to put the blame on others while having the lion's share in almost all governments since 2008. Really it is bizarre how much denial you guys have - almost feel like talking to a wall.

This is really boring, I rather watch paint dry than having this kind of (non)discussion... Good night sir.
