Wrong. Here's the 1960 GDP per capita.
Lebanon ranked 50th at the time. A country that only relies on tourism can never become a prosperous nation, no matter what anti-Arabists and Phoenician revivalists would have you believe on Twitter.

wrong period

The image of a prosperous Lebanon is mainly due to its success in the late 1960s and early 1970s, in using adequately its human, institutional, and geographical resources to benefit greatly from the rapidly expanding wealth of the oil-rich Arab Gulf countries.

I like Aoun, I really do, but it's time to elect a better strategist. Someone who cares about the economy as much as he does about Christian seats. Dob klekishak jéddo.
If he leaves then what? would his departure solve anything? unfortunately NOT.

Demand for berri to leave (that theif hold the country's useful proposed laws in his drawer)
Demand the cabaret guy hariri to come from sindibad leisure and face reality.
Demand and demand and many demand, Focus on the crooks of taef since 1990's,

To make it easy, storm their houses and claim your rights , which is the big mistake the "thawra" didnt do since day one.

otherwise the people will beg for their bread and kill for their survival,

Just simple questions, what is he still doing in Baabda? and do people eat rockets or bread?

IF he leaves you would be able to afford a salad bowl? you all focusing on the wrong destination,,,
this by itself either ignorance or unethical wave of propaganda.

however he should have told the lebanese people directly everything and flip the table on the ELITE CROOKS, but he didnt do it,
hence many are disapointed.

It's a banner, dude...an advertisement. It's meant to attract Lebanese customers who represent a portion of the clientele. Doesn't mean Lebanon was one of the leading nations in the 60s. What a load of bollocks.

Jordan's currency is stronger than the USD (1 JOD=1.4 USD), yet its GDP per capita is lower than Lebanon's and is one of the poorest countries in the Middle East.
Funny, in the 1960's none of the Trio hariri berri junblat were ruling the country ( the taef ilk) ..
it was in the hand of you know who, hence it wa sprosperous, when the taef mafia took over and stole the rights , we ended up here.
facts no one can deny.

In the 70s, Lebanon had one of, if not the, highest GDP growth in the entire Mediterranean. I posted a paper about it few months back, can't really find it atm.

just two questions, can this country produce enough milk, water, halloum, labneh, and bread for us to survive a complete shutdown of imports?

can the generator mafia provide electricity 24/7 when the EDL finally runs out of money?

or are we 2 months away from being an african nation with starvation and no electricity?

This is because Berri has a whole community behind him, as do Hariri and Jumblat.
Removing these people by force would result in a civil war.
Any new government will be a unity government which can't do anything on the ground.

I see no solution but federalism. Too bad Aoun is busy fighting for more worthless seats, instead of advocating federalism.

Probably, but with a 40% production cut compared to "normal" times as the access to spare parts/ equipments / transportation will also be negatively affected and dramatically reduced.

can the generator mafia provide electricity 24/7 when the EDL finally runs out of money?

Same as above, in addition to shortage of fuel.

or are we 2 months away from being an african nation with starvation and no electricity?

In 2 months you'll be like no nation on earth before you.. Well, maybe you'd be competing with Burundi on the number one poorest country in the world.

There's a little problem with ba2ra bel bayt. ba2ra needs hay or fresh juicy grass. But all we have is asphalt everywhere.. Hmm, black milk? 🤔
