I think that the Sunnis and their leaders in tripoli played it very dirty and all of them decided that Jabhat al Nusra should win by voting for ashraf rifi.... they all of them decided that.. it is in the end what Mikati said.. Al Wifaq has won in tripoli.... so its a message to the christians and shi3as that we will force the shari3a law on you soon...

What does this have to do with Shari'a law. No one can force it on use for certain. As much as we despise Rifi, who is a corrupt man, he happens to be the fit man for his constituents. He will contain them like sheep.

The Shia want Sharia law as well. The difference is that the Sunni will burn you to death but the Shia will just stone you. Pick your poison.

I hope that Tripolitarians punished the trio based on poverty situation. But, I'm afraid they may voted for Riffi because of his jihad against the kuffar and rawafed.
I was in Tripoli about 2 weeks ago. Poorest city in Lebanon with the nicest and biggest mosques. Shows you the priorities they have there.

Achraf rifi is "kaed mehwar". It is very sad to see him become justice minister and then win the tripoly municipal election. He is the creation of hariri who has to pay the price now of this creation ( it seems he never learns after he created the islamists who turned on him later on). Also Mikati resigned from the government for him!

Do you think most of those 50/60% are still in Lebanon ?
Even if half of those are outside Lebanon, they can still turn the tables. In Tripoli, they are more. We need to know who is not voting and why.

Anyway, it's healthy that there were a lot of choices in Tripoli, and people picked someone else for starters, even if not the right one.

@Silence any information on independent results?

Same shit. Same ass ( the Saudis )

This was not a rifi bite as much as a bite against the billionaires not paying enough :)

Nothing that a tanket zayt won't fix

Don't build too much in this result,

    That said

It's nice to see these salafis swines being dealt with by their own Salafi creations Hahahhahaha

At least general managed to win jounieh alone
These scums lost their own Sunni. 3al2et al mouslemeen hahahahaha

Akid achraf riffi covered them and supported them when hariri for internal politics decided to sell them after he was the one who created them in the first place.

This is a very scary result to say the least.
As much as Hariri, Mikati, Karami and Safadi may be seen as extremist, they are saints compared to Rifi.
This shows that the Tripolitan street is moving more towards extrimism

Not yet, I don't think that Tripoli2022 and MMfD did well.
I just had a long talk with friends in Tripoli. What is sure is that there is no one single explanation for what happened, we have to avoid one-liners conclusions. What is sure is that "my friends" are of course happy to see the demise of the whole mighty political class in Tripoli but in the same time they are very anxious to see Rifi becoming the Ironman of tripoli.

All agree that it is a turning point (both negative and positive) and that many factors contributed in this surprising result:
1- The confessional anti HA/Bashar speech of Rifi that never compromised is part of the equation (on the negative side).
2- The reaction to Tawafoq, considered as insulting to the middle class is another important part.
3- The good choice of the candidates by Rifi from civil society and guys perceived as honest (on the good side)
4- The poor see him as "closer" to them, he always played it very populist
5- The weakness of the "real civil society" to propose a list that has real appeal at least a la BM.

Rifi knew how to take advantage of the planets lining up and did a tour de force. We -the guys and girls working for real change- have to analyze this and be aware that our hard work since 10 months against the whole political class is starting to reach ears and hearts but we also need to understand that we are also playing with fire because we were able to shake the corrupted class but were unable to propose serious alternative, we somehow helped Rifi, the victory/defeat of Tripoli should be a very deep warning to us too.

The moment mikati and co decide to spend money on the election in tripoli it is over!. This was only a wake up call for him not to underestimate achraf rifi anymore. In the parliament election , couples of millions will do the job and he will be reelected. Max they will leave a seat to rifi on the list.
