UN/US Brokered Negotiations Between Lebanon and Israel to Demarcate Maritime Borders

They don't want to fall in their own tarp that they set for the President who is way ahead of the game. They keep on forgetting GMA's age, wisdom and experience in life. Many of those criticizing him were not even born when GMA was fighting such wars...
What trap...?

There is an Easter egg in the declaration that requires the whole council signing it along with the President. Had GMA signed it and sent it to the UN without their signatures, the UN would have rejected it based on its illegitimacy missing those signatures. The whole idea is to waste time like they have been doing since they were forced to lift the Banking secrecy until the window closes or GMA’s term expires. Meanwhile Israel would start exploring in our sea while we’re watching them with no legal recourse to stop them. Not even HA would be able to justify threatening them…

Notice their propaganda still dreaming of GMA resigning and transferring power to Joseph Aoun. GMA is not just a rock inside their Zionist road map, he’s a mountain and they can’t wait to see him go…

Ok seriously, can someone humor me? @JustLeb @Mrsrx?
I've seen two theories:
It would be unconstitutional for them to meet on this issue, period, because they're resigned (opposite of what the Council and Ziad Baroud said)
If they met, there are a host of other issues that they would have to decide on that they can't because they're resigned (or something like that).

I'd also be interested in what the actual justification is.

By the way, the decree makes the area disputed and we enter negotiations to agree... I don’t think we will end up with the full 1400sq km but that is the Max... it doesn’t change much to my position which is sign it, but it means there is nothing wrong with the position of GMA in the article above...

I would like to see the decree signed already to put our stake in the ground... by the council of ministers ideally and if not, by GMA though it is weaker. As to whom will challenge it: Israel at the UN, hariri or someone close to him since he already declared he would not have signed it, Berri or someone close to him to protect his interests and maintain his status for the Americans in lebanese politics, and probably a few more like some posters here that are completely blinded by their hatred...
The israelis will challenge at UN, this is normal, and this will not create any problem, since it will officially make it a disputed region.
As for those who are internal, they will not dare challenge it legally, because they will put side themselves with the enemy
Look at what happened, Slimy and his lapdog did not dare NOT TO SIGN.
Who will dare to challenge the decree after being accepted at the UN?
Even if they don't like to give Aoun any political win, they will not dare to do anything especially that it is the south and against israel.
SERIOUSLY MAN, if kherfen baabda does not sign, he should be tried for high treason.

Look now what is he saying, let's continue the negotiation and we present our study to the Israelis and they will present us theirs.
I bet the isrealies might accept and they will listen to our presentation then say "ok we listened, but we don't accept, this region is not under negotiation but the HOFF line"
WHAT WILL WE DO AT THIS TIME????!!!!

We strip ourselves of all weapons then we go to war, how idiotic is this !!!

No it’s different. Israel will challenge at the UN but there will be no legal challenge outside of we think it should be ours... a legal challenge can nullify the effects of the decree amendment and give Israel the right to commercialise the area as their own.
As7abak hariri and Berri and the likes of some members on this forum would certainly challenge.

I told you already I would like to sign it - the correct way... they should not let it reach this point, but that’s not to say that he will not sign... ma badda panick el ossa...!

I am pretty sure he will not sign
After I have seen and watched the history of this decree, I am confident he will not sign it
he was probably betting that franjieh won't sign it, so he gains some political points, but franjieh signed it

I think he will, if the government doesn’t convene... and am praying the government does convene...!

No I didn't, it was in the media that this is the way the marasim are signed in the absence of the government
I will search for the videos for you.
Haven't you heard of المراسيم الجوالة

And this is why politics is for whores, sign the [email protected]&&ing decree...

We are wasting our time negotiating with a fake enemy for a fake war keeping a fake enmity for ever so both a local party can ride the wave while Israel doesn’t mind.

We need peace tomorrow with Israel and whatever is disputed can be negotiated but keeping Lebanon like Somalia just to please fake haters is no more accepted

anyway it is a question of months before we end up in partition. This is all short term

I think someone's trying to be too clever by half and revive Diab's government through the back door. But I agree. He should just sign this. It's illegal? Dare Nabih Berri to challenge it. The Americans will get mad? Let them take their wrath out and sanction you, nobody is taking them seriously as mediators anymore anyway.

I understand, there is a lot of mistrust and this article is one that fuels mistrust... it reminds me the articles before electing Aoun where each **** Tom and Harry wrote their opinions as fact, citing midnight meetings far from the spotlights... same thing when GMA came back from France (safa2a with the Syrians) and so on and so forth.
similarly you have the journalists of thé bilât defending everything their political line does. Shou buefer2o 3an ba3d?
You may be right, or wrong, it is certainly not these articles that will prove it.

I am not saying this article proves anything, what I am saying is that people are very suspicious.
the way the subject is handled does not provide confidence.
For me, the guy is trying to cut the army so that Joseph Aoun does not take any credit and his chances to the presidency increase.
Same did Franjieh, but he (smartly) throw it at Aoun.
After Aoun and his minions publicly backed the decree to capitalize on it and win political points thinking Franjieh (pushed by Berri) will not sign it, in the end, he was forced to show his true face.
It does not need much to figure it out.
They will not negotiate on those 1400KM2, and they are lost, which makes it HIGH TREASON

Yes there is a lot of mistrust, and I think this has been used as a strategy against GMA. To your point on Joseph Aoun, his name was never in circulation for this issue. It was always GMA’s baby from the get go...! They would need to be incredibly thick to think this harms Joseph Aoun in any way...!
