Kherfen baabda wants to do borders according to international laws, but he does not sign the decree and inform the UN of the Lebanese point of view and decision.
The guy has sold the waters, and he is maneuvering until the right time to blame the negotiation team for the failure and tell the public opinion that the Hoff line is what he was able to get.
of course, the sheep will applaud him, as usual.
Then a few months later the Americans will lift the sanctions on Bassil, and of course, he will claim that he fought their decision within the US.

Momken, I don't know much about that guy, but one thing is clear, there is a procedure in the UN that has been well known now which permits Lebanon to officially enforce its claim to line 29 away from the empty words that kherfen baabda is trying to sell us...
If he is serious about what he is saying, let him sign the decree and inform the UN of the decision.
If he thinks the army is wrong, let him say it and tell us why he thinks it is wrong
Other than that, it is only BS and the suspicion that he is doing a deal on our expense and on the future generation is justified
He wants the people to trust him, he should show he deserves this trust

Line 29 is disputed. Lebanon may try to get all the area; However, it may settled on a line between 29 and 23
So, Lebanon can ask about line 29; in case it is settled on a new line; the President may not face a prosecution of High Treason for giving up on Lebanese lands

his duty is to sign the decree so Lebanon can negotiate on a line between 23 and 29
for as long as he doesn't sign Lebanon cannot negotiate on any inch beyond line 23 and Israel will start drilling there in the upcoming 2 weeks
What Aoun is doing is indeed High treason, unless he signs.

Lebanon officially set its border up until Line 23 in the UN and the army cannot negotiate beyond that line
unless Aoun signs and send the decree to the UN which then marks the area between 23 and 29 as a disputed area and forces the Israelis to stop drilling.
If the above doesn't happen 29 is not a disputed area and there's no international law that can stop the Israelis from drilling
This is high treason by all means

Anyhow, the army is negotiating on Line 29; and the Americans are assisting both sides to reach somewhere in between

Officially the area between 23 and 29 is not a disputed area right now
lak worst case scenario the israelis will withdraw from the negotations and start drilling between 23 and 29 because Lebanon does not officially recognize line 29 as its border
and that's because Aoun is not signing
What official document are you getting this from? What says a country can't have a negotiating position other than what's officially deposited with the UN?

For as long as Lebanon does not officially declare line 29 as its border, by international law anything beyond line 23 is not recognized as a 'disputed area' because Lebanon never claimed that area regardless of what the army claims in the meeting.
meaning that the israelis can simply withdraw or postpone the negotiations and start drilling beyond line 23 and there's no international law that can stop them.
