Because now that Trump is out of the public picture, they can no longer use him to project their own insecurities, their own incompetence, and their own guilt on. They have to face it on their own, because at the end of the day, the only person on this planet is
yourself.
Their general characterization of Trump had nothing to do with how Trump sees
his own self, and thus had nothing to do with
Reality, except their own personal opinion of it. It doesn’t matter how immoral or evil they see him as, because ultimately, you can only judge
yourself.

Likewise, Trump himself knows that he isn’t what his detractors say of him, even though they have tried their best to make himself believe that he is the devil incarnate. Ergo, he survives and keeps trudging on, while his enemies destroy themselves with their own guilty conscience, and their own fake perceptions of themselves....
