I once had 100K. I went to the casino. The next thing I knew, they were 200K. So I went back home and bought myself a pizza with extra everything on.
The next day I thought to myself: " if 100K could become 200k in a matter of one hour, why not turn 200k into 400k in a matter of 2 hours".
Said and done. I went back to the casino and transformed 200k into 400k in a matter of 2 hours.
Back home I ordered 2 kebab with extra everything on.

The following day I woke up and felt lucky. Turning 200k into 400k in 2 hours was so easy. Now I knew I could turn 400k into 800k in no more than 4 hours.
So I dressed myself into my lucky yellow skirt, put on my pink socks and tawakkaltou 3ala llah.
At the casino I noticed there were eyes staring at me from all directions as I walked to take a seat at the roulette table.

A fancy top model girl at my left winked at me. I winked back. After the ball had rolled for 4 hours my 400k had become 800k.
The top model had now moved closer. I thought I felt her tongue in my left ear... whispering something, even if the whisper sounded more like hissing. 'That was an unusually long tongue' I thought to myself.

I turned around to take a closer look. Next to me, thigh to thigh, sat a behorned creature. Its grin went from the far east to to the far west. Red flames sparkled inside two blackholes where eyes usually sit. In their glow everything around had paled into undefined shadows. Roulette table, chips, the cashier, the big casino hall, they all slowly vanished before my eyes.
There I stood, in eternity it seems, hanging motionless in empty dark space.
Suddenly something grabbed me hard by the neck and pushed me down.

A bed was pushed under me. It was my own bed, and I found myself lying on my back like a stiff stick, biting the white sheet that covered my face. Rivers of cold sweat were rapidly draining my body. My tongue was numb and I couldn't make a sound.
The thought struck me like a lightning "all is gone. I'm finished" I wanted to scream and shout, but the total paralysis wouldn't allow me.

My time had finally come. I knew Death was standing over me, finalizing the deal with the Guardian of life about the cashing in of my soul.
I could clearly hear their negotiation.
    - How much in earthy currency was his existence worth? Asked Death.
    - 100k, answered the Guardian.
    - In US dollars or LL?
    - US dollars
    - I give you 10 LL for him
    - 20
    - 15
    - Take him, said the Guardian

This was my last chance., it was like now or never, me or those two bustards. I had to do something, else I'd be losing everything, including my own self. I took a deep breath, and with the last reserves of my strength I threw the bed sheet that covered my face and opened my eyes. Beams of the first sunlight of dawn were just being sown through my bedroom shutters. I sighed of relief. Quickly I lifted my pillow and looked.
And there they were, still as I left them yesterday, tightly wrapped inside that piece of keess el jounfeiss, my precious.
    My 100k US dollars precious.
Thank you grandma for the advice.

Compared to Western countries, bank deposits in Lebanon are a money making machine. I wonder what do they give for 500-600k and above? I'm assuming over 10% which is insane!

It is because the LL is not strong. Halla2 let them not place the $1 to 1500LL you will see it go to 2200 LL maybe more. The banks also are surviving due to the Lebanese outside the country. They send back home approx 4-6 billion dollars.

To make quick money and not pay that much tax one should go to Lebanon. You can invest 200K in a bank with interests very high, you can open up a business. You can do many things unlike here in Australia. 200K buys you 1/4 of a house. :)

Most financial advisors recommend diversifying your portfolio against living off your interest, but I think that's because the highest interest rates on saving accounts in the US are between 1% and 2%.

In Lebanon, the interest rate is still relatively high compared to other countries.
You can still get a 6%-7% return on your money by simply putting them in a bank account, instead of resorting to risky investments.

No, that is 6-7% yearly rate on LL, (which is 0.5 to 0.58 % monthly).
Deduct 5% taxes on the interest return.
Is it stupid to convert my savings to LBP so I can benefit from a higher interest rate?
Bank of Beirut offers a 3.65% interest rate on USD and 9.65% on LBP.

    Complete financial noob here.

What monthly income can I expect to earn if I put $100,000 in a high interest-earning deposit account?

How much interest are Lebanese banks currently paying?
What is your time horizon? Risk tolerance? Objective (i.e. Income or capital appreciation)? There are a lot of good answers, but the right one depends on your specific objectives and context.

Bank of Beirut is one of the best for opening a term saving account but it does not offer 9.65% nor does any other renowned Lebanese bank. For your suggested amount they may go to a maximum of 6% (but probably not) on monthly maturity accounts.

And so, judging from experience => Deducting account fees and 5% tax you will get a monthly average (for 150M LL & 6%) of 700,000LL and no penny more.
