looking at married relatives, friends and acquaintances around me, i can give you the following reasons why people get married (in no particular order):
    -True love
    -Money / Benefits
    -Foreign citizenship
    -Family / Social pressure
    -Pregnancy
-Sex (e.g. religious ones who practice abstinence before marriage and are eager to get some)

Ironically, these same reasons are also triggers for divorces i've heard of.

I’m pretty convinced my wife married me because I had a kick a$$ health insurance and my then employer was sponsoring our US citizenship application. I’ve since changed job and have a much $hittier health insurance now but my wife hasn’t left yet.
Maybe she came for the insurance and passport and stayed for the wit?

That's because those are the wrong reasons to get married for.
