Great weather, beautiful beaches and scenery, a liberal/socialist stronghold, friendly people, beautiful capital, get confused with a Portuguese so that makes it easier.

And I didn't mention the best yet:

    cheap as hell.

Totally agree. I'm moving there soon for all the reasons you mentioned above. The only downside is the Pacific and I definitely prefer the Mediterranean sea. Also the food is not that great but their produce is amazing so not a big deal if you enjoy cooking.

Land and real estate is not as cheap as in the south of Spain though. But living costs are dirt cheap. €1 for a local beer or a glass of decent wine cant beat that.

If it wasnt so far, I would say Mexico. The food is on another level, especially in the south in Oaxaca. Great weather and people, of course if you avoid cartel states.

Congrats I'm jealous. You mean the Atlantic though. ;) You can also get a bottle of decent wine for 2 euros.

Beautiful country, good employment opportunities, health care free for ALL, benefits for children from the state, good education and free. and the most important far from all the bullshit that happens in the world.
Yeah but it's too far from the rest on the world ... so if you want to visit other countries you're ****ed.

Spain. Cuisine. Culture. Climate. Geographic diversity. Politics (enough action and conflict but not too much). People. Car free cities. Beaches. Mountains. Cost of living is still better than northern Europe. All other countries can try, but fall short.

Visited Andalucia only. Incredible mix of culture, but for living purposes, I found nature in Portugal to be prettier, people more down to earth and something about Portuguese restraint vs Spanish extravagance sealed it for me. Lisbon is such a gorgeous city as well.

Only thing I did not like about Portugal: their aversion to street food. They only eat in restaurants in public.

But yes, Iberia is an incredible place.

My allah what a boring place to spend a whole life at. The water is so icy cold you wouldn't dare dip a toe in it, good only for shimm w la tdou2 and wall posters. The hills are so steep you don't get to properly stretch out on the grass without either rolling down into the freezing water or getting your limbs all stiff due to the dragging forces of misdirected gravitation. The houses are so orderly perfected and in such a good shape you believe you're walking in a child's toy dream. The surrounding mountains view is so breathtaking the thought of missing it when on vacation in Cairo gives you asthma.

Also, I heard the most horrific stories about a Sunday market for stolen organs that takes place every Saturday at dusk in a cave under those trees you see to the left. Horrible place.

In short, don't emigrate to Lucerne, stay with us, shawftak bel dineh including Switzerland.

Never been to Portugal, but I'm sure it's stunning. Cultures without street food are not to be trusted lol.

Spanish extravagance? In Andalucia? In what way? Maybe Malaga can be a bit over the top and the Alhambra is certainly extravagant, but I found the culture and people extremely down to earth. My first time there we spent a week basically getting lost in small villages around Andalucia and people could not have been kinder or more hospitable.

Plus, Spanish Arbequina olive oil puts all other evoos to shame.
